Stuart Miles's Journey in Media
Early Steps in Broadcasting
Stuart Miles began his media journey while studying at Bournemouth University. There, he became very interested in college radio. After university, he also worked at a hospital radio station. These early experiences helped him learn about broadcasting.
Starting on Television
Stuart got his first big TV job as a journalist. He worked for a local cable TV station. He reported on news and events happening in South London. This experience prepared him for bigger roles.
Becoming a Blue Peter Presenter
From 1993 to 1994, Stuart presented a show called Saturday Disney. This led him to join Blue Peter on June 27, 1994. On Blue Peter, Stuart had many exciting adventures. He joined the RAF Falcons display team, which is a parachute team. He also starred in various Blue Peter pantomimes, which are fun stage shows. His last day on Blue Peter was June 21, 1999.
Why Stuart Left Blue Peter
Stuart decided to leave Blue Peter because he felt the show needed to change. He believed it needed to be updated for children at that time. He also wanted to become the Programme Editor, but he was not chosen for the role. Stuart presented Blue Peter alongside other presenters. These included Diane-Louise Jordan, Tim Vincent, Katy Hill, Romana D'Annunzio, Richard Bacon, Konnie Huq, and Simon Thomas.
After Blue Peter
Since leaving Blue Peter, Stuart has continued his career in television and radio. He has been a guest presenter on shows like This Morning and Holiday. He also took part in a special show called When Blue Peter Became ABBA. Besides presenting, Stuart has also directed different TV programmes. He often performs in pantomimes, which are popular family shows.
In 2007, Stuart presented on a TV channel called Sky Vegas. In 2008, Stuart joined a radio station called Gaydar Radio. He hosted a show called Your Choice Requests.
Radio Work in Recent Years
On April 26, 2010, it was announced that Stuart would be a new breakfast presenter for Heart 96.6 (Northants). He started this role on May 4, working with Natalie Besbrode. Later, he also worked for the reformed Heart Home Counties. From February 2015 to July 2017, he co-presented "Heart Breakfast" with his former Blue Peter colleague, Katy Hill. He is also a regular stand-in presenter for Andy Collins on the breakfast show for BBC Three Counties Radio.
