These areas are part of Box Elder County but are not officially part of the town. One example is the Cedar Ridge Subdivision, which is a neighborhood about 1.6 miles north of Deweyville.

History of Deweyville
Deweyville was founded by the John C. Dewey family. They were Mormon pioneers who came from England. On March 14, 1864, they left Calls Fort, Utah. They settled at a place called Empey Springs. This area was first settled by William Empey. Soon, Empey Springs became known as Dewey Springs. Other families also moved to the area.
Early Community Life
John C. Dewey helped organize many things in the new community. In 1869, he led the building of a school house. This school also served as a place for community dances. A Sunday school was started in 1872. In 1873, a post office was opened, and John C. Dewey became the first Postmaster. In 1877, a local branch of LDS Church was formed. John C. Dewey became its leader, known as the Bishop.
Railroad and Growth
Deweyville was an important stop on the Utah Northern Railroad. Later, the Oregon Short Line Railroad took over this line. They changed the tracks to a wider size in 1874. Deweyville became the main shipping point for the Bear River Valley. This lasted until 1901.
The railroad and new canals, like the Bothwell and Hammond Canals, helped the town grow. Many businesses opened. These included places like saloons, a brewery, and boarding houses. There were also shops selling lumber, hardware, and other goods.
Becoming an Official Town
On March 7, 1939, Deweyville officially became a town. This meant it received a municipal charter from Box Elder County. In 1941, a water system was built in the town. This was one of the last projects completed by the Public Works Administration in Utah.
