Diamond Point is a small community in Clallam County, Washington, United States. It is located on the Miller Peninsula.
This area sits at the northwestern edge of Discovery Bay. From here, you can look north and see Protection Island. Some homes are right by the water, but many are on the higher ground. These homes offer great views of Discovery Bay and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Diamond Point is mostly a place where people live. It has its own small airport called Diamond Point Airport. Sometimes, pilots use the local roads to get their planes to and from the airport!
Around Diamond Point, you'll find Miller Peninsula State Park. This park has many miles of trails perfect for hiking and exploring. You can get to the park right from the community or from other nearby entrances.
A Look Back in Time
Long ago, the Klallam Native American people had a village here. It was protected by a fence when the first European explorers arrived.
In the late 1880s, a special station was built at Diamond Point. This was a quarantine station for ships coming into the Puget Sound. Ships that had traveled from outside the United States had to stop here. This was to make sure no one on board was sick before they entered the country.
You can still see some old parts of this station today. There are two old, crumbling docks, a spray house, a utility building, a hospital, and even a nurses' living area. The quarantine station was used until 1934. The old hospital and nurses' quarters are now private homes.
In the late 1950s, the area started to be developed for homes. Within ten years, companies like Diamond Point Land Company and Sunshine Acres had planned and sold much of the land for new houses.
