Dickshooter Creek: A Protected River

Dickshooter Creek is a very important natural feature. It is part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. This means the United States government has given it special protection to keep it wild and beautiful. The creek flows south and joins Deep Creek. During the hot summer months, the water in the creek can dry up. The deep valley, or gorge, that the creek has carved out is a popular spot for people who love to hike and explore the wilderness.

Dickshooter Ridge: Home for Wildlife

Dickshooter Ridge is another wild area that is important for animals. It provides a safe home for birds like the sage grouse and for bighorn sheep. Long ago, a road called Dickshooter Ridge Road was used by travelers. This road went from Silver City, Idaho to Salt Lake City in Utah, and even to Humboldt County, Nevada. It offered amazing views of steep valleys and wide open desert areas.

The United States Congress passed a law called the Omnibus Public Land Management Act in 2009. This law helps protect wild places, and it includes the areas around Dickshooter Creek and Dickshooter Ridge. This means these special places will stay wild for a long time.
