Diego Andrés González Boneta (born November 29, 1990) is a talented actor, producer, and singer from Mexico. He became widely known for his roles in the movie Rock of Ages (2012), where he acted alongside Tom Cruise. He also starred in the Netflix TV series Luis Miguel: The Series (2018), which tells the story of a famous singer.
Diego has also appeared in fun romantic comedy movies. These include Father of the Bride (2022) and At Midnight (2023). As a singer, he released his first album, called Diego, in 2005. His first song from that album was "Responde." He even recorded a version of his album in Portuguese for Brazil in 2006. Later, in 2008, he released his second album, Indigo.

Early Life and Background
Diego Boneta was born in Mexico City, Mexico. His parents are both engineers. His father, Lauro González, is Mexican. His mother, Astrid Boneta, was born in the United States and has Puerto Rican and Spanish family roots. Diego has two siblings.
Even though he never met his grandfather, Otto Boneta, who was a songwriter, Diego believes he got his musical talent from him. Diego grew up living in both Mexico City and Los Angeles, California. He can speak both Spanish and English very well. Diego also has triple citizenship, meaning he is a citizen of Mexico, the United States, and Spain.
Becoming an Actor
Diego started his career in Mexico as a singer and actor. He worked a lot in television. He first appeared on a reality show called Código F.A.M.A..
First TV Shows and Movies
Diego acted in two children's TV shows, which are like long soap operas for kids. These were Alegrijes y rebujos and Misión S.O.S. Both shows were shown on Univision. He also starred in a popular TV show for teenagers called Rebelde.
When he was 20, in 2010, Diego started acting in American TV series. He played Alex Santiago in Pretty Little Liars. He also appeared as Javier Luna in 90210. In 90210, he got to sing and write songs, like "Siempre tú." His first movie role was in 2011. He played Tyler Adams in the teen film Mean Girls 2. He said it was easy to work with his co-star, Meaghan Martin, because they were already friends. This movie also gave him the chance to experience what high school was like, since he was taught at home while working.
Big Roles and Hollywood
Diego's big chance in Hollywood came when he starred in the movie Rock of Ages. This film was based on a popular Broadway musical. He played Drew Boley, a young man who dreams of becoming a rock star in the 1980s. The director, Adam Shankman, was very impressed with Diego. He called him the "next big thing."
In 2012, Diego also starred in the MTV series Underemployed. In 2014, he was part of Abercrombie & Fitch's "Making of a Star" campaign. His photos were shown in their stores around the world. In 2015, he played a warrior named Amram in the mini-series The Dovekeepers. He also sang the theme song for the series, "The Warrior." From September to December 2015, he was in the comedy-horror series Scream Queens. This show had many famous actors like Ariana Grande and Emma Roberts.
Diego played the famous Grammy award-winning artist Luis Miguel in the TV series Luis Miguel: The Series. This show tells the story of Luis Miguel's early career. The series first aired in April 2018 on Telemundo and Netflix. Its second season came out in April 2021.
In 2022, Diego starred in the romantic comedy Father of the Bride. He played the romantic lead opposite Adria Arjona. The movie also featured Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan. It was released on HBO Max and got good reviews. The next year, he starred in the romantic comedy At Midnight (2023) with Monica Barbaro. Diego also helped produce this film and even wrote the first version of its story.
In 2023 and 2024, Diego became the voice for Lexus Mexico.
Music Journey
First Album: Diego
While he was acting in Rebelde, Diego released his first album, Diego. It came out in Mexico, Chile, and Brazil in 2005. The album was available online in April 2006 and in the United States in April 2007. His first song, "Responde," became a top ten hit in many countries like Argentina and Brazil. His songs were also used in the Rebelde TV show. After the show finished, he went on a world tour with the Mexican pop group RBD. He said it was amazing to see people singing his songs in Spanish in countries like Brazil.
When he was promoting his first album in Mexico, he opened three concerts for Hilary Duff in 2006.
Second Album: Indigo
Diego's second album, Indigo, was released on March 25, 2008. It included the songs "Perdido en Ti" and "Losing Me." These songs were produced by Mitch Allan. On May 5, 2008, "Losing Me" and "Perdido En Ti" were featured as the iTunes Free Single of the Week.
