Andrés Arturo García Menéndez (born April 12, 1956), known as Andy García, is an American actor, director, and musician. He became famous for his role in the 1987 crime movie The Untouchables. He starred alongside famous actors like Kevin Costner and Sean Connery.
García is also well-known for playing Vincent Mancini in The Godfather Part III (1990). This role earned him a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He later starred as the cool casino owner Terry Benedict in the popular movie Ocean's Eleven (2001) and its sequels. More recently, he appeared in movies like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and the 2022 remake of Father of the Bride.
Besides acting, García is a talented musician. He won a Grammy and a Latin Grammy Award in 2005 for producing a music album for Cuban musician Cachao.

Early Life and Family
Andy García was born in Havana, the capital city of Cuba. His mother, Amelie, was an English teacher, and his father, René, was a lawyer. When García was five years old, his family moved to Miami, Florida. This was after a major political event in Cuba called the Bay of Pigs Invasion.
In Miami, his family worked hard and started a successful perfume company. García grew up in a Catholic family and has Spanish roots. In high school, he played basketball but had to stop after getting sick with mononucleosis. This led him to try acting, and he took a drama class his senior year. He later went to Florida International University.
Acting Career
Becoming a Star
García started his career with small roles in TV shows like Murder, She Wrote and Hill Street Blues. His big break came in 1987 with the movie The Untouchables. He played an agent trying to stop the famous gangster Al Capone. The movie was a huge success and made García a star.

In 2005, he directed and starred in The Lost City, a movie about his home country of Cuba. He also received award nominations for playing the famous Cuban musician Arturo Sandoval in the TV movie For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000).
Recent Work
García has remained a busy actor. In 2018, he had roles in four major films. He sang with the music star Cher in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and starred in the comedy Book Club with Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda. He also worked with director Clint Eastwood on the movie The Mule.
In 2022, he starred as a loving but worried father in a new version of Father of the Bride. He also appeared in the action movie Expend4bles in 2023.
Personal Life
García married his wife, Marivi Lorido García, in 1982. They have four children: three daughters named Dominik, Daniella, and Alessandra, and a son named Andrés. His oldest daughter, Dominik, is also an actress. The family lives in Los Angeles, California, and Key Biscayne, Florida.
García is proud of his Cuban heritage but has spoken out against the government that has ruled Cuba for many years. He is a naturalized citizen of the United States, which means he officially became a U.S. citizen after being born in another country.
