Diego Antonio Reyes Rosales is a Mexican professional football player. He was born on September 19, 1992. Diego plays as a centre-back, which is a defensive position in football. He currently plays for the Liga MX club Tigres UANL.
Diego Reyes is famous for being an Olympic gold medalist. He won this medal with the Mexican team. He started his professional career with Club América in 2010. Later, he played for several clubs in Europe. These clubs included Porto in Portugal and Real Sociedad and Espanyol in Spain. He also played for Fenerbahçe in Turkey.
Diego has also played for Mexico's national teams. He was part of the under-20 team that finished third in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He also played for the main national team in big tournaments. These included the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2013 and 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Playing for Clubs: Diego Reyes' Career
Starting at América
Diego Reyes grew up in the América youth academy. He was seen as a very promising young player. He made his first professional appearance for América on April 25, 2010. He was only 17 years old at the time. This match was against Santos Laguna at the Estadio Azteca.
Diego scored his first goal for América in 2011. It was during a tournament called Clausura 2011. He slowly became a regular player in the team's starting lineup. His last game for América was on May 26, 2013. This was in the final of the Clausura tournament.
Moving to Porto in Europe
On December 17, 2012, it was announced that Diego Reyes would move to the Portuguese club FC Porto. He officially joined them on July 1, 2013. He made his first appearance for Porto on July 13. This was in a cup final against the French club Marseille. His fellow Mexican teammate Héctor Herrera also played in this game. Porto won the match 3–0.
Playing on Loan for Real Sociedad
On July 14, 2015, Diego Reyes went on loan to Real Sociedad. This is a club in Spain's top league, La Liga. He played his first game for them on August 22. It was a 0–0 draw against Deportivo de La Coruña. Diego scored his first goal for Real Sociedad on February 8, 2016. This was in a big 5–0 win against RCD Espanyol.
Playing on Loan for Espanyol
On August 31, 2016, Diego Reyes joined another Spanish team, Espanyol, on a loan deal. He stayed there for one season. On October 30, he scored his first goal for Espanyol. It was the only goal in a 1–0 win against Real Betis.
Playing for Fenerbahçe
On August 25, 2018, Diego Reyes moved to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe. He signed a three-year contract with them. He played his first game for Fenerbahçe on September 1, 2018. His contract with Fenerbahçe ended on August 25, 2019.
Loan to Leganés
Before his contract ended, Diego Reyes went back to Spain. On January 31, 2019, he joined CD Leganés on loan for the rest of that season.
Returning to Mexico with Tigres UANL

Playing for His Country: Mexico National Team
Youth National Teams
Diego Reyes played for Mexico's youth national teams. In 2009, he was part of the under-17 team that played in the CONCACAF Championship. This team qualified for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
In 2011, Diego played for the under-20 team. This team finished third in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. They won against France with a score of 3–1.
Diego was also part of the under-23 national team that won a gold medal. This happened at the 2011 Pan American Games. They beat Argentina 1–0 in the final.
In 2012, Diego's under-23 team won another gold medal. This was at the 2012 Toulon Tournament. They defeated Turkey 3–1 in the final match. He was also chosen for the team that went to the 2012 Summer Olympics. He played in every game there. This included the gold medal match against Brazil at Wembley Stadium. Mexico won 2–1, and Diego was the youngest player on the team at 19 years old.
Senior National Team
