Diego Antonio Reyes Rosales (born 19 September 1992) is a Mexican professional footballer. He plays as a centre-back for Liga MX club Tigres UANL. Diego is famous for winning an Olympic gold medal with Mexico.
Reyes started his professional career with Club América in April 2010. He helped them win a league title in 2013. Later that year, he moved to FC Porto in Portugal. He also spent time playing on loan for Spanish teams like Real Sociedad and Espanyol.
Diego has played for different Mexican national youth teams. He helped the under-20 team finish third at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He was also a key player for the under-23 team that won gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He has also played for the main Mexican national team in big tournaments like the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Club Career Highlights
Starting at América
Diego Reyes grew up playing in the youth academy of Club América. He was seen as a very promising young player. He made his first professional appearance for the club on 25 April 2010. He was just 17 years old. His first goal for América was against Estudiantes Tecos in 2011. He slowly became a regular player in the team.
His last game for América was on 26 May 2013. He played in the final of the Clausura tournament where América won the title.
Moving to Porto
On 17 December 2012, it was announced that Reyes would move to the Portuguese club FC Porto. He joined them on 1 July 2013. He made his first appearance for Porto on 13 July in a friendly match. His fellow Mexican teammate Héctor Herrera also debuted in the same game.
Playing in Spain: Loans
In 2015, Diego Reyes was loaned to La Liga club Real Sociedad in Spain. He played his first game for them on 22 August. On 8 February 2016, he scored his first goal for Real Sociedad.
On 31 August 2016, Reyes moved to another Spanish team, Espanyol, on loan. He scored his first goal for Espanyol on 30 October.
Time in Turkey and Return to Spain
On 25 August 2018, Reyes joined Turkish club Fenerbahçe. He played his first game for them on 1 September 2018. His contract with Fenerbahçe ended on 25 August 2019.
Before that, in January 2019, he went back to Spain on loan. He played for CD Leganés for the rest of that season.
Back to Mexico: Tigres UANL
On 26 August 2019, Diego Reyes returned to Mexico. He signed a four-year contract with Tigres UANL. He has been a key player for Tigres since then.
International Career
Youth Teams and Olympic Gold
Diego Reyes played for Mexico's youth national teams. In 2009, he played in the CONCACAF under-17 Championship. Mexico qualified for the under-17 World Cup.
In 2011, he helped the under-20 team finish third at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He also won a gold medal with the under-23 national team at the 2011 Pan American Games. They beat Argentina in the final.
In 2012, Reyes was part of the under-23 team that won gold at the 2012 Toulon Tournament. He was also chosen for the 2012 Summer Olympics squad. He played in every match, including the gold medal game against Brazil at Wembley Stadium. Mexico won 2–1, and Diego was the youngest player on the team at 19 years old.
Playing for the Senior National Team
Reyes made his debut for the senior national team in 2011. His first full debut was on 25 March 2013 in a World Cup qualification match. He also played in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
He even captained Mexico for the first time in a friendly match in 2014. He played for Mexico in the 2014 FIFA World Cup against the Netherlands.
In 2018, Reyes was chosen for Mexico's squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. However, he had to miss the tournament because he was recovering from a hamstring injury.

He is strong in the air, which helps him win headers. Even though he is mainly a defender, he can also play as a defensive midfielder.
