Dilli Haat facts for kids
Dilli Haat is a super fun outdoor market, food court, and craft fair located in Delhi, India. It's a special place where you can explore the rich culture of India all in one spot! Unlike a regular weekly market, Dilli Haat is open all the time. It's managed by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC).
You can find Dilli Haat in South Delhi, right across from the INA Market. This amazing place was built on 6 acres of land that was transformed into a lively plaza. With its small huts and stalls, it feels like a traditional Indian village. It's a great spot to visit with your family and friends!
Some shops at Dilli Haat are permanent, but many sellers change every fifteen days. This means there's always something new to discover! You might find beautiful wood carvings made from rosewood and sandalwood, cool shoes made from camel hide, fancy fabrics, gems, beads, brass items, metal crafts, and even silk and wool clothes. There are also special shows and festivals that celebrate Indian handicrafts and culture.

Discovering Dilli Haat's History
Dilli Haat first opened its doors in March 1994. It was created by a team effort from Delhi Tourism, the Government of Delhi, and several other government groups. This helped make it a truly special place for everyone to enjoy.
Around 2003, Dilli Haat became even more welcoming! It was made fully accessible for wheelchairs, which means more people could visit and explore. Because Dilli Haat was so popular, another one called Dilli Haat, Pitampura opened in April 2008. A third one opened in Janakpuri in August 2013, so now there are even more places to experience this unique market!
Over the years, Dilli Haat has become a famous spot for many events. It hosts craft shows, music concerts, dance performances, and cultural festivals. For example, India's very first comic book convention, Comic Con India, was held at Dilli Haat, INA, in February 2011.
