Dima Khatib (Arabic: ديمة الخطيب) is a journalist, poet, and translator. She was born in Syria but has Palestinian roots. She is the head of AJ+, a digital news service from Al Jazeera Media Network. AJ+ shares news in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish. Dima Khatib is one of the few female leaders in Arab media today.

About Dima Khatib
Dima Khatib was born in Damascus, Syria. Her mother was Syrian, and her father was Palestinian. She is amazing at languages, speaking ten of them! These include Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, German, Swahili, and Greek.
She started working at Al Jazeera in 1997. She began as an intern and later became a producer. She also worked as a reporter in China and then led the Al Jazeera office in Latin America. Later, she moved into online journalism.
Her Work in Journalism
Dima Khatib is known as one of the most influential Arabs on social media. During the Arab revolutions, she shared many updates and comments on her Twitter account. Today, she talks about many different topics online. These include social media, news, being a mother, poetry, and issues related to Palestine.
Reporting on Major Events
She became well-known during the Iraq War. At that time, she worked as a live news producer for Al Jazeera's Arabic channel in Doha. She was interviewed by famous TV hosts like Larry King and Wolf Blitzer. She also appeared in a 2004 movie called Control Room. This film was about Al Jazeera's news coverage of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Reporting from Latin America
When she worked in Latin America, Dima Khatib had special access to the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chávez. She also interviewed other leaders, like Evo Morales from Bolivia and Lula da Silva from Brazil. She reported from many countries in South and Central America. Her reports helped the Arab world learn a lot about this distant continent. For example, she reported that Chávez was the first leader to speak out against Israel during the Israeli-Lebanon conflict. She also reported that Chávez cut ties with Israel years later. She also corrected false rumors that Gaddafi had escaped to Venezuela.
Teaching and Poetry
From 2013 to 2015, Dima Khatib taught journalism at the American University in Dubai (AUD). She also gives talks around the world. She often organizes poetry readings in cities across the Persian Gulf region, Europe, and both North and Latin America.
Before working at Al Jazeera, Dima Khatib worked for Swiss Radio International in Bern. She also worked for the World Health Organization in Geneva. In Doha, she worked for Al-Raya Newspaper and Qatar Radio in French.
