History of Dollars Corner

Dollars Corner got its name from a family named Dollar. In 1917, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Dollar bought a farm in the area. They paid $150 and traded two cows for the land.

In 1924, the Dollar family opened a small store and a gas station on one corner of their property. This spot quickly became a well-known place in the area. People say that local police officers would tell their bosses they were going "as far as Dollar's Corner," and that's how the name stuck!

Later, in 2012, the area started to change a lot. A major road, Washington State Route 502, was being rebuilt and moved. Because of this, some old buildings right on the corner had to be taken down. One restaurant, O'Brady's Drive-In, was saved, but there was a long discussion about how much money its owners should get because of the changes.
