Dominique Taishaun Hatfield (born December 13, 1994) is an American former professional football player. He was a talented cornerback who played college football at the University of Utah for the Utah Utes. After college, he joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.

Dominique Hatfield's Early Football Days
Dominique Hatfield grew up in Los Angeles, California, and played high school football at Crenshaw High School. He was a very versatile player! In 2011, during his junior year, he caught 33 passes for 586 yards and scored four touchdowns. He also ran for 100 yards. On defense, he made 25 tackles and helped stop passes. He was also great at returning punts.
In his senior year (2012), he played both wide receiver (catching passes) and cornerback (defending against passes). He caught an amazing eight interceptions that year! Because of his great skills, he won several awards, including being named First-team All-State by MaxPreps and Defensive Player of the Year for the Los Angeles City Section.
College Football Career at Utah
Hatfield played for the Utah Utes at the University of Utah from 2013 to 2016. He started his college career as a receiver. In 2013, he played in 11 games, catching 4 passes for 84 yards. He also returned seven kickoffs and made 7 tackles on special teams.
Switching to Cornerback
In 2014, after a teammate got injured, Hatfield started playing as a cornerback. He played his first game of the season as a receiver but then switched to cornerback full-time. He played in 13 games that year, starting 10 of them. He made 32 solo tackles, helped with 6 other tackles, and broke up 9 passes. He also caught 1 interception, which he returned for a touchdown!
Challenges and Successes
In 2015, Hatfield faced some challenges but was able to return to the team. He missed the first game of the season. After that, he played in 12 games, starting 11. He made 27 solo tackles, helped with 6 others, and broke up 2 passes. He also caught 4 interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown.
In 2016, he missed the first three games due to an injury. When he returned, he played in 9 games, starting 6. He made 24 solo tackles, helped with 6 others, and broke up 4 passes. He also caught 1 interception. Hatfield was chosen as a team captain in 2016, showing he was a leader on the team.
Professional Football Journey
After college, Dominique Hatfield hoped to join the NFL. He was rated as one of the top cornerbacks in the 2017 NFL draft.
Los Angeles Rams (2017–2019)
On May 16, 2017, Hatfield signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the draft but was still given a chance to play. He played in 11 games for the Rams.
In 2018, he was promoted to the active roster on September 26. Unfortunately, he was placed on injured reserve in December after hurting his ankle. Even without him, the Rams made it all the way to Super Bowl LIII that year, but they lost to the New England Patriots.
In 2019, Hatfield was waived by the Rams due to an injury.
Carolina Panthers (2019–2020)
On December 18, 2019, Hatfield joined the Carolina Panthers practice squad. He signed a contract to stay with the Panthers in December 2019. However, he was waived by the team in April 2020.
Ottawa Redblacks (2021)
Dominique Hatfield then moved to the CFL. He signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on January 6, 2021. He played for them until July 29, 2021, when he was released.
