Donkey Kong Country Returns is an exciting platform video game made for the Nintendo Wii game console. It was created by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo. The game first came out in North America on November 21, 2010. It then released in Australia on December 2, 2010, in Europe on December 3, 2010, and in Japan on December 9, 2010. This game was a big return for the Donkey Kong Country series. It was the first new game in the main series since Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! in 1996.

Story of Donkey Kong Country Returns
The game's story begins when a group of musical creatures called the Tiki Tak Tribe arrives on Donkey Kong Island. These Tikis use their music to control the minds of the island's animals. They make the animals steal all of Donkey Kong's precious bananas! Donkey Kong and his best friend, Diddy Kong, must go on a big adventure. Their goal is to get back all the stolen bananas from the mischievous Tikis.
Gameplay and Features
Donkey Kong Country Returns brings back many popular things from older Donkey Kong Country games. Players control Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong as they jump, roll, and swing through many levels.
Returning Elements
- Mine Cart Levels: These fast-paced levels challenge players to ride in mine carts. You must dodge obstacles and jump over gaps.
- Banana Collection: Bananas are scattered everywhere. Collecting them helps you earn extra lives.
- KONG Letters: In each level, you can find four golden letters that spell K-O-N-G. Collecting all of them unlocks special levels.
Playable Characters
Donkey Kong is the main character. He is strong and can stomp on enemies. Diddy Kong can ride on Donkey Kong's back. Diddy uses his jetpack to help them jump further. You can play alone, controlling both characters, or with a friend. In multiplayer, one person plays as Donkey Kong and the other as Diddy Kong.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
On February 14, 2013, Nintendo announced a new version of the game. This version was made for the Nintendo 3DS handheld system. It was called Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. This portable version was released in North America and Europe on May 24, 2013. It came out in Australia on May 25, 2013, and in Japan on June 13, 2013. It allowed players to enjoy the adventure on the go.
