Dontell Jefferson, born on December 15, 1983, is an American professional basketball player. He played basketball in many places. These included the National Basketball Association (NBA) for a short time. He also played in the NBA Development League. This league is now called the G League. Dontell also played in countries like Canada, Latvia, and Saudi Arabia. Before turning pro, he played college basketball. He played for the Arkansas Razorbacks and Atlanta Metropolitan College.

College Basketball Journey
Dontell started his college basketball journey at Atlanta Metropolitan College. He played there for two years. After that, he went to the University of Arkansas. He played for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the 2004–05 and 2005–06 seasons. In 2006, he was the team leader in assists. He also played in the 2006 NCAA Men's Tournament. This is a big tournament for college teams.
Professional Basketball Career
After finishing college, Dontell Jefferson hoped to join the NBA. However, he was not chosen in the 2006 NBA draft. This meant he had to find other ways to play professionally.
Playing in the NBA
On March 11, 2009, Dontell got a chance to play in the NBA. He signed a 10-day contract with the Charlotte Bobcats. This is like a tryout period. He played well enough to sign a second 10-day contract. Then, he signed for the rest of the 2008–09 NBA season. On October 22, 2009, the Bobcats decided to let him go.
NBA Development League and Overseas
In 2012, Dontell was picked by the Reno Bighorns in the NBA D-League Draft. The D-League is now known as the G League. It helps players get ready for the NBA. On February 22, 2013, he was traded to the Austin Toros.
Dontell also played basketball in other countries. In July 2013, a team called KTP-Basket in Finland announced he would join them. But he left before the season started. In April 2014, he signed with Al Hilal in Libya.
In July 2014, Dontell signed with Al Ahly in Qatar. He played there for the 2014–2015 season. In January 2016, he signed with Qatar Club, also in Qatar.
In August 2016, Dontell moved to Saudi Arabia. He signed with Al Fateh for the 2016–2017 season. He was named "Swingman of the Year" there. He also made the "First Team All Saudi Arabian team." This means he was one of the best players in the league. In November 2017, he signed with Al Fateh again.
