Dorian Trevor Thompson-Robinson (born November 14, 1999), also known as DTR, is an American professional football player. He plays as a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the UCLA Bruins. While at UCLA, he was recognized as one of the best players in the Pac-12 in both 2020 and 2021. The Browns chose him in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football
Dorian Thompson-Robinson was born on November 14, 1999, in Columbia, South Carolina. His mother was studying at the University of South Carolina at the time. He grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and went to Bishop Gorman High School.
Dorian was a highly-rated player in high school. In his senior year, he threw for 3,275 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also showed his running skills, gaining 426 yards and scoring 7 touchdowns on the ground. After high school, he decided to play college football at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
College Football Career at UCLA
Dorian Thompson-Robinson played for the UCLA Bruins from 2018 to 2022. He became a key player for the team during his time there.
2018 Season: Freshman Year
In 2018, Dorian's first year at UCLA, he played in ten games. He started as quarterback in seven of those games. In one game against No. 10 Washington, he completed 27 out of 38 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns. The next week, he completed 13 out of 15 passes against California. This was one of the best completion percentages for a UCLA quarterback since 1980.
2019 Season: Becoming a Starter
Dorian became the main starting quarterback in 2019, his second year. He started 11 out of 12 games, missing one due to an injury. A memorable game was against No. 19 Washington State. He led the Bruins to a big comeback win, throwing for 507 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 57 yards and two more touchdowns. His total of 564 yards in that game set a new UCLA record for total offense by one player.
In 2019, Dorian gained a total of 2,899 yards from passing and running. He also scored 25 touchdowns, which was one of the top ten single-season performances for a UCLA player.
2020 Season: Big Improvements
Dorian was again the starting quarterback for the 2020 season. This season was shorter because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first game against Colorado, he threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 109 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown run. This made him the first UCLA player to pass for over 300 yards and run for over 100 yards in the same game.
He improved a lot in 2020, completing 65.2% of his passes for 12 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He also ran for 306 yards and three touchdowns. He was named to the second-team All-Pac-12 for his great play.
2021 Season: More Success
Dorian decided to return to UCLA for the 2021 season. He was again named second-team All-Pac-12 by the coaches. He finished the season with 2,409 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns, which was the second-highest in the conference. The Associated Press even named him first-team All-Pac-12.
2022 Season: Fifth Year
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NCAA gave college athletes an extra year of eligibility. Dorian chose to return for a fifth season in 2022. In the first game against Bowling Green, he threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns, including a 68-yard run.

Professional Football Career
After his successful college career, Dorian Thompson-Robinson entered the NFL draft.
Joining the Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns picked Dorian in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft. He was the 140th player chosen overall. Before the regular season, he played very well in preseason games. This helped him earn the job as the backup quarterback for the Browns.
2023 NFL Season
Dorian got his first chance to start a regular season game on October 1, 2023. The Browns' main quarterback was injured, so Dorian stepped in. In his first start, the Browns lost 28–3. However, he won his next start against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11. He helped set up the game-winning field goal in that game.
The following week, he threw his first career touchdown pass against the Denver Broncos. He later left that game due to a head injury. After recovering, he became the backup again when another quarterback, Joe Flacco, became the starter. Dorian later injured his hip and was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
2024 NFL Season
Dorian started the 2024 season as the backup quarterback. He played in a regular season game on October 20 after the starting quarterback got injured. He completed 11 passes but also threw two interceptions before leaving the game with a finger injury. Another quarterback, Jameis Winston, then became the starter.
Later in the season, Dorian replaced Winston in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The next week, the Browns announced that Dorian would start their game against the Cincinnati Bengals. In that game, he threw for 157 yards and ran for 49 yards, but also threw two interceptions. He started the next game against the Miami Dolphins, where he completed 24 passes for 170 yards, but also had an interception and lost a fumble.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson's parents are Michael Robinson and Dr. Melva Thompson-Robinson. His mother is a professor who teaches about public health at the UNLV. Dorian has one brother and one sister.
