It winds its way along a stream called Duck Creek, passing through many different parks. It's the oldest recreational trail in the Quad Cities area! The very first part of this parkway was built way back in the 1930s as a simple park road. The design we see today, with its bike path, was created in the 1970s.

Exploring the Parkway

The Duck Creek Parkway starts at Emeis Park and Golf Course on the west side of Davenport. From there, it takes you on a journey through several fun parks. These include Northwest Park, Marquette Park, Junge Park, Garfield Park, and Eastern Avenue Park. It then reaches Duck Creek Park and Golf Course. This is where the parkway crosses into Bettendorf.

Parkway in Bettendorf

Once in Bettendorf, the adventure continues! The parkway goes through Middle Park, Veterans Memorial Park, and Devils Glen Park. Finally, it comes to an end. The path covers about 8.36 miles (13.45 km) in Davenport. In Bettendorf, it stretches for 5.14 miles (8.27 km).

A Bit of History

The Duck Creek Parkway has a long and interesting past. Its story began in the 1930s. Back then, the first section was built. It was meant to be a road for people to drive through the park. Over time, the idea grew. In the 1970s, the parkway was redesigned. This new plan included the awesome bike path we use today. It made the parkway a perfect place for walking, running, and biking.

What's Next for the Parkway?

There are exciting plans for the future of the Duck Creek Parkway! People want to connect this great trail with other popular pathways. These include the Riverfront Parkway and Sunderbruch Park. Imagine being able to explore even more of the Quad Cities on one continuous trail! These connections will make it even easier for everyone to enjoy the outdoors.
