Duck Key is a beautiful island community in the middle of the Florida Keys, United States. It's a special type of place called a census-designated place, which means it's a community that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town. Duck Key is known for its lovely homes and a big resort called Hawk's Cay. It's located in Monroe County, Florida. In 2020, about 727 people lived there.

History of Duck Key
Duck Key has changed a lot over the years. In 1983, a resort called Newkirk's Indies Inn got new owners. They made many big changes to the area.
Hawk's Cay Resort and Marina
The new owners removed a golf course to make space for a bigger resort. They renamed it Hawk's Cay Resort and Marina. In the late 1990s, more swimming pools and fun activities were added. This made the resort a popular place for visitors.
Hawk's Cay Village
Around the mid-1990s, a company from Key West started building Hawk's Cay Village. They added hundreds of homes in a Caribbean style. These homes all have water views, porches, and white picket fences. Today, Duck Key has 381 homes, many places for recreation, and large convention facilities.
Geography of Duck Key
Duck Key is located right on the ocean side of U.S. 1, which is also known as the Overseas Highway. You can find it around mile marker 61. It sits between two other islands, Conch Key and Grassy Key. The city of Marathon is about 9 miles (14 km) to the southwest. Islamorada is about 22 miles (35 km) to the northeast.
The total area of Duck Key is about 0.63 square miles (1.64 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.

Duck Key has a warm, tropical climate. It's usually sunny and pleasant, which makes it a great place to visit or live. The temperatures are warm all year round.
