Dudipatsar Lake, also called Dudipat Lake, is a beautiful lake in Pakistan. It is located in the far north of the Kaghan Valley. Getting there takes about a four-hour drive from the main town of Naran.
The name "dudi" means white, and "sar" means lake. So, "Dudipatsar" means "white lake." The lake got its name because it reflects the white snow from the mountain peaks around it. The water in the lake is a lovely greenish-blue color and is very cold!
This lake used to have many trout fish. However, there are fewer trout now. This is because of illegal fishing methods, like using nets or even dynamite.
Not many people visit Dudipatsar Lake. Reaching the lake is quite a challenge. It takes about four to six hours of difficult hiking and trekking. An earthquake in October 2005 made it even harder to get to the lake. But the government of Pakistan decided in March 2006 to help bring tourism back to the Kaghan Valley. This includes building new tourist spots and rebuilding old ones.
Surrounding Area
Dudipatsar is close to another important lake called Lake Lulusar. Lake Lulusar is the main source of water for the Kunhar River. This river flows through the Kaghan Valley. The entire area around Dudipatsar is private land. However, the Government of Pakistan has declared it a national park.
You can visit this area for about four months each year. This is usually from June to September. After September, the area closes because of heavy snow.
