Dumont (pronounced DOO-mont) is a small city in Traverse County, Minnesota, United States. It is located in the western part of the state. In 2020, about 75 people lived there.

History of Dumont

A post office opened in Dumont in 1886. This meant people could send and receive mail easily. The city was named by officials from the railroad.

On June 22, 1919, a strong tornado hit Dumont. It caused a lot of damage to buildings and property. One person, Nicholas Didlo, who was 63 years old, sadly died. The tornado came from the southeast, so people had little time to get to safety.
