Dunmore is a small village in Scotland. It is part of the Falkirk council area. The village is located about 6.5 miles (10.5 km) south-east of Stirling. It is also about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) north of Falkirk.

Dunmore sits along the A905 road. This road connects Throsk and Airth. The village is also found on the banks of the River Forth.

In 2001, about 70 people lived in Dunmore. Before that, in 1991, the population was 79.

The village was once called Elphinstone Pans. In the 1840s, a local landowner changed it. This person was the Countess of Dunmore. She planned and rebuilt the entire village. Today, Dunmore is a special "conservation area." This means its historic look and feel are protected.

One very interesting place near Dunmore is the Dunmore Pineapple. It is an 18th-century building shaped like a giant pineapple! This unique building is a type of "folly." A folly is a building built just for fun or decoration. It is owned by the National Trust for Scotland.

The Dunmore Pineapple is located south of the village. It sits on the land that once belonged to Dunmore Park House. This old house is now in ruins.

Famous People from Dunmore

  • Dr L. W. Hinxman was born and grew up in Dunmore. He lived from 1855 to 1936. Dr Hinxman became a famous geologist. A geologist is a scientist who studies the Earth's rocks and soil. His father was the local minister in the village.
