Durand (pronounced "də-RAND") is a city in Wisconsin, United States. It is the main city and county seat of Pepin County. Durand is located right next to the Chippewa River. This river flows about 15 kilometers (9 miles) before joining the larger Mississippi River. In 2020, about 1,854 people lived in Durand.

A Look Back: Durand's History
The Durand area was first settled in 1856. A 21-year-old named Miles Durand Prindle arrived by boat. He claimed land where the city is now. The area was first called Bear Creek. Durand officially became a city on April 12, 1887.
