Dwight is a small city located in Richland County, North Dakota, in the United States. It was founded in 1881. In 2020, about 80 people lived there. Dwight is part of the larger Wahpeton, ND–MN area.

History of Dwight

Dwight got its name from Jeremiah W. Dwight. He owned a very large farming business called the Dwight Farm and Land Company. This company started in 1879. It managed a huge farm of 27,000 acres in the area. These very large farms were known as bonanza farms.

An important person named John Miller lived in Dwight. He was the first governor of North Dakota. Miller also worked as the superintendent, or manager, of the Dwight bonanza farm.
