Dyshawn Pierre (born November 17, 1993) is a Canadian basketball player. He plays for Fenerbahçe Beko in Turkey. Early Life and High School Basketball
Dyshawn Pierre was born in Whitby, Ontario. When he was in high school, he played for the Anderson Raiders. He helped his team win two championships in a row. These were the OFSAA championships in 2011 and 2012.
College Basketball Career
Dyshawn played college basketball for the Dayton Flyers. In his second year, he scored about 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds per game. He was a 6-foot-6 shooting guard.
Big Wins in the NCAA Tournament
In the 2014 NCAA Men's Division 1 tournament, Dyshawn was key to some big wins. His free throws helped the Flyers upset Ohio State University. He also made important free throws against the Syracuse Orangemen. These shots helped the Flyers reach the "sweet sixteen" round. Dayton then beat Stanford. They eventually lost to the Florida Gators in the "elite eight" round. Dyshawn scored 18 points in that game.
More College Highlights
Dyshawn was chosen for the All-Atlantic 10 Conference Second Team. As a junior, he started in the guard position. He played in the "First Four" game of the 2015 NCAA Men's Division 1 tournament. He scored nine points in a close win against the Boise State Broncos. This win earned them a spot in the main tournament. In the next game, Dyshawn scored 20 points. He led the Flyers to an upset win over the Providence Friars.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Dyshawn joined the Indiana Pacers for their summer league. In August 2016, he signed his first contract to play overseas. He joined Basketball Löwen Braunschweig in Germany. In the 2016-17 season, he led the German league in rebounds. He also scored about 14.9 points per game.
Playing in Italy and Turkey
In 2017, Dyshawn signed with an Italian team called Dinamo Basket Sassari. On July 8, 2020, he joined Fenerbahçe Beko in Turkey. This team plays in the EuroLeague and the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL). He averaged 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for Fenerbahçe. He signed new contracts with the team in 2021 and 2023.
The Basketball Tournament (TBT)
In the summer of 2017, Dyshawn played in The Basketball Tournament (TBT). This tournament is shown on ESPN. He played for the Broad Street Brawlers. He averaged 20.5 points per game in this tournament. Dyshawn helped his team reach the second round. They lost to Team Colorado in a high-scoring game.
National Team Career
Dyshawn has also played for the Canadian national basketball teams. He was part of the Cadet team in 2010 and the Junior team in 2011. He won a bronze medal with teammates like Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett.
