Eagle-Eye Cherry was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on May 7, 1968. His father, Don Cherry, was a famous American jazz musician. His mother, Monika Cherry, was a Swedish painter and artist.
He has a diverse background. His grandmother was of Choctaw descent, and his grandfather was African-American. Eagle-Eye is one of five children. His half-sister is the well-known singer Neneh Cherry. He also has other half-siblings who are musicians.
When he was 12, Eagle-Eye moved to New York City for school. He stayed there to work as an actor and play drums in bands. At 16, he went to the High School of Performing Arts in New York. Famous actors like Jennifer Aniston also attended this school.
Music Career
Eagle-Eye Cherry started his career in acting. He appeared in films like Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989). In 1993, he was in a TV show called South Beach.
After his father passed away in 1995, Eagle-Eye returned to Stockholm. He decided to focus completely on his music. He began writing and recording his first album, Desireless, in his own bedroom. He worked hard to make it perfect.
Desireless became a huge success around the world. It sold four million copies! It was also certified platinum in the United States, meaning it sold over a million copies there.
Eagle-Eye Cherry has also worked on many other projects. He co-wrote and sang on a song called "Wishing It Was" for Santana's album Supernatural. His music has been featured in popular movies like Y tu mamá también, Holes, and Billy Elliot.
