About Ed Maverick
Early Life and Music Start (2001–2017)
Eduardo Hernández Saucedo was born on January 19, 2001. He grew up in Delicias, a town in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. During his high school years, he taught himself how to play the guitar. One of the first songs he learned was "Simple As This" by Jake Bugg.
He started writing his own songs in his hometown around mid-2017. He also performed at parties and other public events. At the same time, he began uploading cover songs to his YouTube channel. Some of the artists who inspired him to write music include Dromedarios Mágicos, Juan Cirerol, and Little Jesus.
Rising to Fame (2018–2020)
An independent record label called Eidan Box Records, located in Chihuahua, invited Ed Maverick to record his songs. He started recording with them and then released his music on digital platforms. In 2018, he released his first album, Mix pa' llorar en tu cuarto, through Eidan Box.
The song "Fuentes de Ortiz" was on this album. It quickly became very popular on social media and was his first big hit. An early music video for "Fuentes de Ortiz" was also released.
In December 2018, Ed Maverick went to Mexico City for a big event called "band bazaar." This event allowed independent artists to sell their merchandise and perform live. There, he met rapper Lng/SHT, who later introduced him to manager Chok Fermoso.
Fermoso signed Ed Maverick to his talent agency and became his manager. In March 2019, Fermoso helped him get a record deal with Universal Music Mexico. His first album was then re-released in stores and online under the Universal label. It quickly reached number two on the Mexican Albums Chart. "Fuentes de Ortiz" and "Acurrucar" were released as singles from the album. A new music video for "Fuentes de Ortiz" was also filmed.
By May 2019, Ed Maverick was one of the most popular Mexican artists on Spotify. That same year, he performed at famous venues in Mexico City, like the "Lunario" at the National Auditorium and the Teatro Metropolitán. He set a record for being the fastest Mexican artist to sell out his shows at these places. His first album also received a gold record from AMPROFON in the same year. He then released his second album, Transiciones (2019).
As Ed Maverick became more famous, he faced some difficult times on social media. He received many negative messages from some fans and online creators. In November 2019, he shared a message on Twitter explaining that he would take a break from social media. He said he was confused and needed to rest.
In 2020, he returned with a live album called Ed Maverick en el Metropólitan. This album featured his popular songs and included "Ropa de Bazar" with Bratty. Also in 2020, AMPROFON awarded him a diamond record for "Fuentes de Ortiz" for selling over 300,000 copies. He also received multiple platinum and gold records for other songs and his first album. He also released his first EP, Esto No Tiene Nada Que Ver con Eduardo.
Eduardo Album and Global Recognition (2021–Present)
In 2021, Ed Maverick released his third album, Eduardo. The songs "Gente," "Niño," and "Gracias" on this album reflected his experiences during the difficult time he faced earlier. Rolling Stone magazine listed Eduardo as one of the best Spanish-language albums of 2021.
In the same year, he worked with Spanish artist C. Tangana on the song "Párteme la cara." This song was on C. Tangana's album El Madrileño (2021). "Párteme la cara" reached number three on the singles chart in Spain. It was certified double platinum in Spain, gold in Brazil, and platinum in Mexico. Because of his work as an engineer on El Madrileño, Ed Maverick won his first Latin Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album at the 22nd ceremony. In October 2021, Maverick formed a band called Los Milagro with Daniel Quién and Wet Baes, but he left the group in May 2023.
In 2022, he won the Odeon Award for Best Alternative Song in Spain for "Párteme la Cara." He was the first Mexican artist to receive this award. In April, he performed for the first time at the famous Coachella music festival. In May, he released some demo versions of songs from his Eduardo album.
