Edward Stewart, born on March 2, 1972, is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in college. He was even named an All-American in 1994 while playing for the University of Nebraska. Later, he played professionally for the Amsterdam Admirals. Today, he works as an administrator in college sports.

Early Life and High School
Edward Stewart was born on March 2, 1972. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Mount Carmel High School there.
College Football Career
Stewart started his college football journey at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He was first recruited to play as a defensive back. However, he soon changed his position to linebacker.
He played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1991 to 1994. For three of those years, from 1992 to 1994, he was a starting player. As a senior in 1994, he was a team captain. That year, he led his team with 96 tackles.
Stewart earned many awards in 1994. He was named first-team All-Big Eight. He also won the Big Eight Defensive Player of the Year award. Most notably, he was recognized as a consensus All-American. The Cornhuskers also won the national championship that season.
His 257 career tackles set a new school record. After college, he earned a degree in psychology. In 2001, he was named to Nebraska's All-Century team. He was also added to the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
Professional Football Career
After college, Stewart signed with the Carolina Panthers in 1995. He was a linebacker for the team. However, he was later waived by the Panthers that same year.
In 1996, Stewart was chosen by the Amsterdam Admirals. This team was part of the World League of American Football (WLAF). He played in five games for the Admirals. He made five defensive tackles and three special teams tackles.
Later in 1996, Stewart signed with the St. Louis Rams. He was briefly waived but then joined the team's practice squad.
Life After Playing Football
After his playing career, Ed Stewart moved into sports administration. From 1997 to 1998, he worked at Michigan State University. He was an academic counselor for athletes.
From 1999 to 2006, Stewart worked at the University of Missouri. He was an associate athletic director. He also helped manage the football program.
From 2006 to 2022, he was a top official for the Big 12 Conference. He was the executive associate commissioner for football. In 2022, he joined the University of Southern California athletic department. He is now an executive senior associate athletic director for football administration. He also has a master's degree from Michigan State.
