Douglas Edward Alexander "Eddie" Gustafsson McIntosh (born January 31, 1977) is a former professional footballer from Sweden. He was a goalkeeper, which means he protected the goal. Eddie started his career in 1993 with IFK Stockholm. He played for several clubs in Norway and then for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. Eddie retired from playing football in 2014. He also played for the Swedish national team ten times between 2000 and 2010.

Starting His Career
Eddie Gustafsson grew up in the United States. Later, he moved to Sweden. There, he began his football journey. He played for clubs like IFK Stockholm and IFK Norrköping. In 2002, he moved to Norway. He joined Molde FK and was their main goalkeeper for three seasons.
After his contract ended in 2004, Eddie looked for a new team. He tried out for clubs in Europe and the US. He then joined another Norwegian club, Hamarkameratene. He only stayed there for one year. After the 2005 season, Gustafsson signed with FK Lyn.
Playing for Red Bull Salzburg
On January 8, 2009, Eddie Gustafsson signed a contract. He joined FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. This was a big step in his career.
A Challenging Injury
On April 18, 2010, Eddie was playing in an Austrian Bundesliga match. It was against LASK Linz. During the game, he suffered a serious leg injury. He broke two bones in his left leg. Eddie had surgery the same night to fix his leg.
Coming Back to Play
Eddie worked hard to recover. He played his first game after the injury on January 20, 2011. It was a friendly match against FC Spartak Moscow. Over the next few years, Eddie was a backup goalkeeper. He supported the main goalkeepers, Alexander Walke and later Péter Gulácsi.
Eddie's last game as a professional goalkeeper was on May 4, 2014. It was Salzburg's final home match of the 2013-2014 Bundesliga season. He played against SV Ried. In the 78th minute, he was replaced by Péter Gulácsi. This moment marked his retirement from professional football.
International Matches for Sweden
Eddie Gustafsson also played for his country. He made his first appearance for the Swedish national team on January 31, 2000. Sweden won that game 1–0 against Denmark.
He was a backup player for big tournaments. These included UEFA Euro 2004 and Euro 2008. In total, he played ten games for Sweden. His international career lasted from 2000 to 2010.
