Edwina Louise Christie Bartholomew is a well-known Australian journalist and TV presenter. She is famous for presenting the news on the breakfast TV show Sunrise, which airs on the Seven Network. Before this, she also helped host popular shows like Dancing with the Stars and Australian Spartan.

About Edwina Bartholomew

Edwina Bartholomew, often called Eddy, was born in Whyalla, South Australia. She spent some of her early childhood living in Japan and Malaysia. Later, she attended Abbotsleigh School in Wahroonga, Sydney. She did very well in her final school exams there.

Education and Early Career

Edwina studied journalism at Charles Sturt University. She also completed a Masters degree in International Studies at Sydney University in 2006. Her journey into TV started when she won a competition for interns at Sunrise. She began by helping with small tasks and quickly moved up to producing the show.

She also worked as a reporter for a radio station called 2GB. She even covered the Beijing Olympics for the Seven Network.

Becoming a TV Star

After her time overseas, Edwina returned to Australia. She continued her work as a reporter for Seven News. In 2011, she became the Sydney correspondent for Sunrise. She also reported stories for another show called Sunday Night.

In July 2013, Edwina became the weather presenter for Sunrise. She took over this role from Grant Denyer.

Hosting Popular Shows

In September 2013, Edwina was chosen to be a co-host for Dancing with the Stars. This was a big step in her career.

In January 2016, she announced she would be leaving her weather role on Sunrise after three years. She then became the show's entertainment presenter. She also became the main fill-in news presenter. Sam Mac took over her weather role.

In 2018 and 2019, Edwina co-hosted Australian Spartan with Hamish McLachlan. This show involved contestants tackling tough obstacle courses.

Current Role on Sunrise

In March 2021, Edwina became the news presenter on Sunrise. She replaced Natalie Barr, who became a co-host after Samantha Armytage left the show.

In March 2024, Edwina also started presenting Sunrise Early News. This show used to be called Seven Early News. She took over from Jodie Speers.

Personal Life

Edwina Bartholomew married Neil Varcoe in April 2018. They have two children, a daughter and a son. The family lives in Sydney.

In July 2024, Edwina shared that she was diagnosed with a type of blood condition called chronic myeloid leukaemia.
