El Mirage is a small place in San Bernardino County, California. It's an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's managed by the county.
The name "El Mirage" comes from the Spanish words El Miraje, which mean "The Mirage". A mirage is something you see that isn't really there, like a pool of water in a hot desert. El Mirage is located in the western part of the Mojave Desert. It's right next to El Mirage Lake, which is a dry lake bed. This community is about 12.5 miles (20.1 km) northwest of Adelanto.

Schools in El Mirage
El Mirage has its own school, called El Mirage School. It teaches students from kindergarten up to 8th grade. This school is run by the Adelanto Elementary School District. After 8th grade, students go to high school in the Victor Valley Union High School District. This includes schools like Adelanto High School.

El Mirage has been a filming location for some famous music videos!
- In 1995, the music video for "California Love" by Tupac Shakur was filmed in El Mirage.
- The music video for the song "Dilly" by Band of Horses was filmed in 2010. It was shot at a place called Murphy's Bar and Grill, which is now closed.
- Billy Currington filmed his music video "I Got a Feelin'" here in 2004. It starred actress Gena Lee Nolin.
