Elaina Maureen Maxwell, born on December 16, 1978, is an American athlete. She is known for her skills in mixed martial arts (MMA) and as a professional kickboxer.
Elaina is a three-time San Shou Champion. She also holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. She trains with coaches Kirian Fitzgibbons and Cesar Gracie. In 2003, Elaina won the first American gold medal at the World Wushu (San Shou) Games in Macau, China. After this big win, she started learning Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Elaina has won five titles in her career. Her San Shou record is 14 wins and only 1 loss, with 2 wins by knockout. She began fighting in cage fighting in Stockton, California, on August 12, 2006.

Elaina's Early Life
Elaina Maxwell has a twin sister named Ila. When she was younger, Elaina loved sports. She played soccer in grade school. In middle school, she also played volleyball.
Winning a Kickboxing Title
Elaina Maxwell became the IKF Amateur San Shou Rules Super Welterweight United States Champion. She won this title on July 24, 2004, in San Jose, California. Her opponent, Melissa Alley, had to pull out of the fight.
First Title Defense
Elaina defended her title for the first time on July 23, 2005. This fight was also in San Jose, California. She won against Tiffany Chen from New York. Elaina ended the fight in the first round with a strong kick.
Elaina's Mixed Martial Arts Journey
Elaina Maxwell was part of a special moment in Strikeforce history. She fought in their very first female mixed martial arts match. This fight was against Gina Carano on December 8, 2006. Elaina lost this fight by a decision from the judges.
She then faced Michelle Maher in an MMA title match. This happened on July 24, 2007, at Melee on the Mountain. Elaina won this fight by a split decision. This made her the Golden State MMA Light Middleweight Champion.
Maxwell fought Miesha Tate at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Thomson on June 27, 2008. She lost this fight by a unanimous decision.
She was supposed to fight Alexis Davis on May 8, 2010. However, Elaina had to withdraw from the fight because of an injury.
Elaina faced Lizbeth Carreiro at Freestyle Cage Fighting 44. This fight took place on July 24, 2010. Elaina won the fight by TKO in the first round.
Her next fight was against Alexis Davis again. This match was at Raging Wolf 9 on August 28, 2010. Elaina won this fight by unanimous decision.
On November 19, 2010, Maxwell fought Shayna Baszler. Elaina lost this fight by submission in the first round.
Maxwell faced Shana Olsen at Crowbar MMA: Spring Brawl 2. This event was on April 29, 2011, in Fargo, North Dakota. Elaina won this fight by unanimous decision.
On July 23, 2011, Maxwell fought Angela Samaro. This match was at King of the Cage: Shockwave in Oroville, California. Elaina won by TKO in the third round.
Maxwell faced Ashley Sanchez at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 2. This fight was on March 30, 2012, in Kearney, Nebraska. Elaina won the fight by unanimous decision.
She was set to fight Julia Budd at Invicta Fighting Championships 3. This event was on October 6, 2012. But Elaina had to pull out because she got a concussion during training.
