Elk Creek is a cool stream, about 30.4-mile (48.9 km) long, that flows into Lake Erie. It's located in Erie County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. This creek is an important part of the Lake Erie Watershed, which is like a big funnel that collects all the water in an area and sends it to Lake Erie. Elk Creek has a drainage basin (the land area where water drains into the creek) of about 99.4 square miles (257 km2). The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission helps keep the creek full of fish by adding brown trout and steelhead, making it a great spot for fishing!

Elk Creek's Journey

Elk Creek begins its journey in a few different places. Its waters start flowing from areas in Fairview Township, McKean Township, and parts of Summit Township.

Flowing to Lake Erie

From its starting points, Elk Creek flows mostly towards the northwest. It winds its way through Erie County until it finally reaches Lake Erie. The creek meets the lake just west of a town called Lake City, which is in Girard Township.

Little Elk Creek Joins In

Along its path, Elk Creek gets bigger when another stream, called Little Elk Creek, joins it. This happens in Girard Township. Little Elk Creek itself starts further south, in Elk Creek Township and Franklin Township.

Visiting Elk Creek

There's a local park called Elk Creek Access where you can visit the creek. You can find this park easily off Pennsylvania Route 5. It's a nice place to enjoy nature and maybe even see some of the fish that live in the creek!
