Elle Moxley (born 1986 or 1987) is an American activist who works for transgender rights. She helped start the Black Lives Matter Global Network. She also created The Marsha P. Johnson Institute. At this institute, she works as the executive director.

Elle Moxley's Early Life and Education
Elle Moxley was born in Columbus, Ohio. She grew up with her two sisters. Her mother raised them in a single-parent home.
Elle became very interested in black power. She learned a lot about Malcolm X and the civil rights movement. She started working as a youth organizer. Later, she went to Central State University. This is a special university in Wilberforce, Ohio, known as a historically black university.
Elle Moxley's Work and Activism
In 2013, Elle Moxley helped create the Black Lives Matter Global Network. She was a key leader and helped organize many things. She also helped make important plans for the network. One plan was called "A Vision for Black Lives" in 2016.
In 2015, Elle helped organize a special day of action. This day brought attention to black trans women who had been killed that year. She also helped plan The Movement for Black Lives conference in Cleveland, Ohio. This was a big national meeting that lasted three days.
The Marsha P. Johnson Institute
Elle Moxley started The Marsha P. Johnson Institute. She is the main leader, called the executive director. The institute began in 2019. Its main goal is to train and support black trans women. It also helps people who are gender-nonconforming and identify as femmes.
Other Important Roles
Elle has also worked as a coordinator for GetEQUAL. She was an ambassador for the Trans Women of Color Collective (TWOCC). Her writings have been in magazines like Ebony. She also wrote for the City University of New York Law Review.
In 2022, Elle Moxley directed a short film. It was a documentary called Black Beauty. She also appeared in the film.
Elle Moxley's Public Voice
In 2015, Elle Moxley spoke on TV shows like Democracy Now! and All Things Considered. She talked about the shooting of Tamir Rice.
In 2017, Elle and other trans activists spoke out about the pussyhat. This hat was a symbol for the 2017 Women's March. They said that movements need to include everyone. They wanted people to think about all types of people.
Later in 2017, Elle and her team at the Marsha P. Johnson Institute spoke up. They were upset about comments made on The Breakfast Club radio show. These comments were about trans women. Elle and her friends started a petition. They asked for the show to be taken off the air.
On September 30, 2017, Elle Moxley spoke at The March for Black Women. This event was in Washington, D.C. She talked about how black transgender women and cisgender black women support each other.
