Elpídio Pereira Silva Filho (born July 19, 1975), known as Silva, is a retired Brazilian footballer. He played as a striker, which means he was a player who focused on scoring goals.

Silva spent most of his football career in Portugal. He played for clubs like Boavista for eight seasons. During this time, he played 187 matches and scored 62 goals. Besides Brazil and Portugal, Silva also played professionally in Japan, South Korea, and Cyprus.

Club Career Highlights

Silva was born in Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil. He started his professional football journey with Clube Atlético Mineiro in Brazil. Soon after, he moved to Japan to play for J1 League club Kashiwa Reysol.

After one season in Japan, Silva moved to Portugal. He joined S.C. Braga and played there for two seasons.

Success with Boavista

Silva's most successful time was with Primeira Liga team Boavista FC. He played a very important role when Boavista won the league title in the 2001 season. This was the only time Boavista has ever won the league. Silva scored a goal in the final match, which was a 3–0 home win against C.D. Aves.

In the next season, Silva scored in a 1–1 draw against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League. He also scored in the second match against Liverpool, which also ended 1–1.

UEFA Cup Run

In the 2002–03 season, Boavista had a great run in the UEFA Cup, reaching the semi-finals. Before playing against Celtic in the semi-finals, Silva famously called Celtic a "one-man team." He was referring to their star player, Henrik Larsson. Celtic won the match 2–1 overall, with Larsson scoring the winning goal.

Later Career

After Boavista, Silva moved to Sporting CP. However, he didn't get to play much because another striker, Liédson, had just joined the team. Even so, Silva managed to score six league goals in his first season. He was also loaned to Vitória S.C. for a period.

In January 2006, Silva left Sporting. He then played for several other clubs. These included Derby County in England, though he didn't play any matches there due to fitness issues. He also played for Sport Club Corinthians Alagoano in Brazil, Suwon Samsung Bluewings in South Korea, and Alki Larnaca FC in Cyprus. In January 2009, he joined AEK Larnaca FC, also in Cyprus.
