Silva's Football Journey
Silva was born in Campina Grande, a city in Paraíba, Brazil. He started his professional football journey with a team called Atlético Mineiro. However, he soon moved to play overseas.
Playing in Japan and Portugal
His first stop outside Brazil was in Japan, where he joined the J1 League club Kashiwa Reysol. After just one season, he moved to Portugal. There, he signed with Braga and played for them until June 2000.
Success with Boavista
Silva's most successful time was with another Portuguese team, Boavista. He was a very important player when Boavista won the national championship in 2001. This was the only time Boavista ever won this championship! Silva scored 11 goals that season. One of his goals came in the final match, a 3–0 win against Aves, which helped secure the title.
European Adventures
After winning the league, Boavista played in the UEFA Champions League. Silva scored a goal in a 1–1 draw against Liverpool. He also scored in the second match against Liverpool, which also ended in a 1–1 draw.
The next season, Boavista had a great run in the UEFA Cup (now called the Europa League). They reached the semi-finals of the competition. Before playing against Celtic, Silva said that Celtic was a "one-man team." However, Celtic won the game 2–1 overall, and Henrik Larsson, who Silva was talking about, scored the winning goal.
Later Career Teams
After his time at Boavista, Silva moved to Sporting CP. But he didn't get to play much because another great striker, Liédson, had just joined the team. Silva still managed to score six goals in the league during his first season there, which was the 2003–04 season. He was also loaned to Vitória de Guimarães for a period.
In January 2006, Silva left Sporting CP. He then played for several other clubs. These included Derby County in England, though he didn't play any matches there due to some injuries. He also played for Corinthians Alagoano in Brazil, Suwon Samsung Bluewings in South Korea, and Alki Larnaca in Cyprus. In January 2009, he joined another Cypriot team, AEK Larnaca, before ending his professional career.
