Emilio Aceval Marín (born October 16, 1853 – died April 15, 1931) was a very important person in Paraguay. He served as the 14th President of Paraguay from 1898 to 1902. He was a member of the Colorado Party, which is one of the main political groups in the country.

Emilio Aceval's Early Life
Emilio Aceval was born in Asunción, Paraguay. His parents were Don Leonardo Aceval and Ms Monica Marin. He started his education with a teacher named Fidel Maíz.
A Young Soldier in a Big War
When he was only 13 years old, a huge war called the War of the Triple Alliance began. Emilio joined the army as a child soldier. This war was fought between Paraguay and an alliance of three other countries.
- He was hurt in battles at places like Pirayú and Ñu Acosta.
- At Ñu Acosta, he was a sergeant major, which is a high rank for a non-commissioned officer.
- Later, he was captured during the battle of Caraguatay.
Life After the War
After the war ended, Emilio moved with his family to Corrientes and then to Buenos Aires, both in Argentina. There, he went back to school at the National Central College.
- He started studying engineering, but had to stop because he became very ill.
- After he got better, he traveled a lot through Europe and the United States.
- He returned to Paraguay in 1881 and became a landowner and farmer.
- Before becoming president, he also worked in the government as the Minister of Finance and the Minister of War and Navy.
Emilio Aceval passed away in Asunción on April 15, 1931.

As president, he had a team of ministers, often called a "cabinet," to help him run the country. His cabinet included:

Important Events During His Presidency
During President Aceval's time in office, several important things happened:
- Paraguay showed its products and culture at big international events like the Universal Exhibition in Paris and the International Exhibition in Philadelphia.
- New government groups were created to improve education and health. These included the National Council on Education, the Directorate General of Schools, and the National Council of Hygiene.
- An office was set up to collect internal taxes, called the Office collecting Internal Revenue.
- Paraguay faced a serious health crisis when an epidemic of bubonic plague spread. This led to the creation of the Office Bacteriológica, which focused on studying and fighting diseases.
- New groups of immigrants, especially from Italy, came to Paraguay and started new communities.
The End of His Presidency
Towards the end of his term, there were some political problems in Paraguay. On January 9, 1902, a group of military leaders forced President Aceval to step down from his position. The Congress then chose his vice president, Don Hector Carballo, to take over as the new president.
