Emilio Ángel Sánchez Vicario was born on May 29, 1965, in Madrid, Spain. He is a famous Spanish tennis player who was once ranked number one in the world for doubles. Emilio won five big Grand Slam titles in doubles and mixed doubles. He also won a silver medal in men's doubles at the 1988 Olympic Games.
Emilio is the older brother of Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, who also won many Grand Slam titles. They even teamed up to win the Hopman Cup together in 1990. After he stopped playing professionally, Emilio became the captain of Spain's Davis Cup team and led them to victory in 2008.

Emilio's Tennis Career
Emilio Sánchez started playing tennis professionally in 1984. He won his first major singles title in Nice, France, in 1986.
Singles Success
Emilio won 15 singles titles during his career. One of his biggest wins was the Italian Open in 1991. He was known for beating some of the top players in the world, like Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, and Mats Wilander. His highest ranking in singles was world number 7.
Doubles and Mixed Doubles Achievements
Emilio was especially good at doubles. He won 50 doubles titles, and 44 of those were with his partner Sergio Casal. They won three Grand Slam doubles titles together.

- In the same year, he won the US Open doubles title with Sergio Casal.
