About Emma Wu
Her Early Life
Emma Wu, who is also known by her nickname Gui Gui, was born in Keelung City, Taiwan. She was born on August 11, 1989. Emma is an only child. When she was young, her family moved around a lot. Because of this, she went to five different elementary schools!
She went to Dao Jiang Senior High School for a short time. Later, she moved to Zhuangjing Senior Vocational School in Taipei. There, she became classmates with Wang Zi from the band JPM.
Emma explained that her nickname, Gui Gui, means "Ghost." She chose it because she feels she is "full of reckless things." It's a fun way to say she has a playful and unique personality.
Starting Her Career in Entertainment
Emma Wu began her journey in entertainment in November 2005. She joined a TV show called Blackie's Teenage Club. This show was looking for new talents for the Channel [V] network.
After a few tryouts, Emma became part of a nine-member girl group. The group was first called Hei Se Hui Mei Mei. Later, their name changed to Hey Girl. They released their first album in August 2008.
In April 2009, there were rumors that Emma might leave the group. Even though she was not expected to renew her contract, she was still part of group activities. However, Emma was not present for their album promotions. On May 6, 2009, it was confirmed that she had left Hey Girl.
Becoming an Actress
In 2007, Emma Wu started acting. Her first TV drama was Brown Sugar Macchiato. This show was a way to introduce the groups Hey Girl and Lollipop F.
In 2008, Emma starred in Mysterious Incredible Terminator. She acted alongside Aaron Yan and Alien Huang. Fans loved Emma and Aaron's chemistry on screen. They were supposed to star in another drama called Momo Love. But due to scheduling problems, they were replaced by other actors.
After a break, Emma signed with Polyface Entertainment Media Group in 2011. She returned to TV in I, My Brother. Later that year, she was in the TV show Painted Skin (TV series). This helped her focus more on acting in China.
In 2012, Emma appeared in her first movie, The Four. It was a three-part film series. In February 2013, she joined the Korean reality show We Got Married. On the show, she was paired with Ok Taecyeon from the K-pop group 2PM. Emma said she was very thankful for this experience.
In the years that followed, Emma starred in many Chinese TV dramas. These include Legend of Lu Zhen, Incisive Great Teacher, A Different Kind of Pretty Man, and The Four (2015 TV series).
Her Musical Comeback
On March 7, 2016, Emma Wu signed with CJ E&M. This marked her return to the music world. She trained for three months to prepare for her Korean debut. This training included singing, dancing, and Korean language lessons.

In June 2017, Emma left CJ E&M. She then started her own company, Gemma Wu Studio. In October of the same year, she released a song called "Knock Knock Knock." She even invested her own money in making the song!
In August 2019, Emma joined Avex Taiwan. She released the song "Love Me Love Me" to celebrate her 30th birthday. On September 22, 2020, she released her first full music album, GX. This album celebrated her 15th year in entertainment.
