Entrepreneur is an American magazine and website. It shares news and stories about entrepreneurship, which means starting and running your own business. It also covers how to manage small businesses and general business topics.

The magazine first started in 1977. It is published by Entrepreneur Media Inc. Their main office is in Irvine, California. The magazine comes out 10 times a year. You can get it by subscription or buy it at newsstands. Entrepreneur is also published in other countries like Mexico, India, and South Africa. The current editor-in-chief is Jason Feifer.

Magazine History: How it Started

Since 1979, Entrepreneur magazine has created a special list. This list ranks the top 500 franchise companies. A franchise is a business where you buy the right to use a company's name and system, like a fast-food restaurant.

The magazine also makes other important lists and gives awards. One of these is the "Entrepreneur 360" list. It helps find businesses that are great at growing. Companies on this list are judged on many things. These include how much money they make and how well they are managed. They also look at new ideas, finances, and how valuable the business is.

In 1996, Entrepreneur launched its website, Entrepreneur.com. This website grew to include many features. It also has contests and other publications. The magazine is known as one of America's top business publications. It competes with other big names like Forbes Magazine and Fortune.

Franchise 500: Top Business Franchises

The Franchise 500 is a yearly list made by Entrepreneur magazine. It ranks 500 of the best American franchise companies. Companies apply to be on the list, and then they are reviewed. The Franchise 500 started in 1979. It has been published every year since then.

Other Publications and Websites

Entrepreneur magazine also publishes another magazine called Entrepreneur StartUps. You can subscribe to it or buy it at newsstands. The magazine also has a blog. A team of online staff manages this blog. You can also read the magazine on mobile apps as digital editions.

In 1999, a website called YoungEntrepreneur.com was created. It was a spin-off from Entrepreneur.com. This website is an online place for young people who want to start businesses.

In 2010, Entrepreneur launched another website, SecondAct.com. This site is made for an older audience. When it first started, the site earned money only from advertising.

Entrepreneur also publishes books through its "Entrepreneur Press" division. This part of the company has over 200 books. These books are all about business and entrepreneurship.

Masters of Scale: A Business Podcast

In April 2017, Reid Hoffman announced a new podcast called "Masters of Scale". Entrepreneur magazine is its media partner. A podcast is like a radio show you can listen to online.

In each episode, Reid Hoffman is the host. He talks about business ideas that might seem unusual at first. Then, he proves these ideas by talking with successful entrepreneurs. Masters of Scale tries to have an equal number of men and women as guests.

The podcast officially started on May 5, 2017. It was first featured on the Entrepreneur Magazine website. Now, you can find it only at mastersofscale.com. Some famous guests on the show include Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg.
