Eric Wayne Davis (born January 26, 1968) is a former American football player. He was a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. A cornerback is a defensive player who tries to stop passes and tackles opposing players.
Eric Davis played college football for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. The San Francisco 49ers picked him in the second round of the 1990 NFL draft. He played in the NFL from 1990 to 2002.
In 2008, he was chosen for the Division II College Hall of Fame. Later, in 2013, he joined the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. These honors show how important he was in football.

College Football Journey
Eric Davis played for Jacksonville State from 1986 to 1989. At that time, it was a Division II school. In his senior year, 1989, he helped his team achieve a great 13-1 record. They also won the Gulf South Conference championship. The team even made it to the Division II championship game.
During 1989, Eric had 51 tackles, 8 pass deflections, and 6 interceptions. He was a key player for his college team. In 1999, he was honored by being voted into the school's athletic hall of fame.
NFL Career Highlights
Eric Davis holds a special NFL record. He is the all-time leader in consecutive NFL playoff games with at least one interception. This means he was very good at catching passes meant for the other team.
Key Plays with the 49ers
Davis played a huge role in the 1994 NFC Championship Game. This was against the Dallas Cowboys. He made two amazing plays early in the game. First, he caught an interception and ran it back 44 yards for a touchdown. This happened on only the third play of the game!
Then, he forced a fumble from Cowboys player Michael Irvin. This led to another touchdown for the 49ers. These plays helped the 49ers defeat the Cowboys. The Cowboys had been champions for the previous two years. The 49ers then moved on to Super Bowl XXIX. They won the Super Bowl by beating the San Diego Chargers 49–26. In 1995, Eric Davis was chosen for the Pro Bowl. He also helped the 49ers have the number-one ranked defense that year.
Moving to New Teams
In 1996, Eric Davis became a free agent. This means he could sign with any team he wanted. He chose to join the Carolina Panthers. He helped the Panthers reach the NFC title game. They lost to the Green Bay Packers, who went on to win Super Bowl XXXI.
After playing one year (2001) with the Denver Broncos, he finished his career. His last team was the Detroit Lions in 2002.

Broadcasting Career
After his playing career, Eric Davis became a sports broadcaster. In the 2000s, he worked as a color analyst for the 49ers. He helped explain the game during preseason broadcasts on KPIX-TV. He also shared his thoughts on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
In 2011, he became the color analyst for the 49ers radio broadcasts. He joined Ted Robinson in the booth. He also co-hosted "The Drive with Tierney and Davis" on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco.
In 2012, Eric became a co-host and analyst for a new morning show. This show was on NFL Network and called NFL AM. He continued to be the 49ers' radio analyst through the 2013 season.
By 2015, he was a regular guest on The Rich Eisen Show. He also moved to The NFL Network's main show, Total Access. In 2016, he became a co-host for an afternoon show at ESPN LA. In 2019, he started co-hosting the Bleav in 49ers Podcast.
