Erich "Ete" Beer is a famous German former football player and coach. He was born on December 9, 1946. People often called him "Ete," which was his popular nickname.

Early Football Days

Erich Beer started playing football when he was young. He began his career at a club called SpVgg Ebing. Later, he played for VfL Neustadt/Coburg until 1968. These early years helped him become a skilled player.

Playing in the Bundesliga

In 1968, Erich Beer joined the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league. He played for several well-known teams there. These included 1. FC Nürnberg, Rot-Weiss Essen, and Hertha BSC.

He was a midfielder, which means he played in the middle of the field. His job was to help both defend and attack. During his time in the Bundesliga, he played in 342 games and scored 95 goals. This shows he was a very important player for his teams.

Time with Hertha BSC

Erich Beer spent a long time playing for Hertha BSC, from 1971 to 1979. This was a big part of his career. He played in 253 games for them and scored 83 goals.

International Career

Erich Beer also played for his country. Between 1975 and 1978, he was a member of the West Germany national football team. He played in 24 games for the national team and scored seven goals. Representing his country was a great achievement for him.

Reporters sometimes called Erich Beer "The Berliner Beer" because of his time playing for Hertha BSC in Berlin. However, most fans knew him simply as "Ete." Today, Erich Beer lives in Munich, Germany.
