Erick Thohir (born 30 May 1970) is a well-known Indonesian businessman and politician. He has been the Minister of State Owned Enterprises for Indonesia since 2019. This means he helps manage many important companies owned by the Indonesian government.
He is also the chairman of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) since 2023. This makes him a very important person in Indonesian football. Erick Thohir founded the Mahaka Group, a big company that works in media, sports, and entertainment. He is famous around the world for previously owning and leading big football clubs like Inter Milan in Italy and D.C. United in the USA. Today, he co-owns two other football teams: Oxford United in England and Persis Solo in Indonesia.

Early Life and Education
Erick Thohir was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 30 May 1970. His father, Teddy Thohir, was a co-owner of a large automotive company called Astra International. Erick Thohir also has a brother and a sister.
He studied in the United States. In 1993, he earned his master's degree from National University (California).
Career in Business and Media
After finishing his studies, Erick Thohir returned to Indonesia. There, he started the Mahaka Group with his friends.
In 2001, his company bought Republika, which was a major Islamic newspaper in Indonesia. Because of his background in communication, Erick Thohir was chosen to lead this newspaper.
The Mahaka Group grew bigger by investing in other businesses. They started Mahaka Advertising, an outdoor advertising company. They also launched television stations like Jak TV and popular radio stations such as 98.7 Gen FM and 101 Jak FM. They also became part of other radio networks.
Erick Thohir also helped create the Darma Bakti Mahaka Foundation. This foundation works to do good things for the community.
From 2014 to 2019, he was the president director of ANTV, a television station.
Public Service and Sports Leadership
Erick Thohir has held several important roles in public service and sports. In 2018, he led the re-election campaign for President Joko Widodo.
In 2019, he became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This is a very important group that organizes the Olympic Games. He is also a member of the FIBA Central Board, which governs international basketball.
In February 2023, Erick Thohir was chosen as the new chairman of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI). This role means he is in charge of developing football across Indonesia.

He used to be part of a group that bought the Philadelphia 76ers, a famous basketball team in the USA. He also owns the basketball team Satria Muda in Indonesia. From 2015 to 2019, he was an honorary board member of the Indonesian Basketball Association. He has also been the President of SEABA (Southeast Asian Basketball Association) since 2006.
