Ermin Bičakčić (born on 24 January 1990) is a professional footballer from Bosnia. He plays as a centre-back, which is a defensive position. Ermin plays for 2. Bundesliga club Eintracht Braunschweig and also for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Ermin started his professional football journey at VfB Stuttgart. He mostly played for their reserve team before joining Eintracht Braunschweig in 2012. Two years later, he moved to TSG Hoffenheim. In 2023, he made a comeback to Eintracht Braunschweig.
Ermin played for both Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina when he was younger. However, he chose to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina as a senior player. He first played for his country in 2013 and has played over 40 games since then. Ermin was part of the team that went to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This was the first time Bosnia and Herzegovina played in such a big tournament.

Starting at VfB Stuttgart
Ermin Bičakčić's family moved to Germany from Bosnia and Herzegovina because of the Bosnian War. This is where he started playing football at local clubs. In 2005, he joined the youth academy of VfB Stuttgart.
He played his first professional game for VfB Stuttgart's reserve team on 23 March 2010. He was 20 years old then. Seven months later, he played his first game for the main team in a cup match. He made his league debut on 19 December against Bayern Munich. On 29 July 2011, he scored his first goal as a professional player.
Moving to Eintracht Braunschweig
In January 2012, Ermin joined Eintracht Braunschweig. He signed a contract that would last until June 2013. His first official game for the team was on 5 February. On 11 March, he scored his first goal for Eintracht Braunschweig.
In January 2013, Ermin signed a new contract with the team until June 2015. He played a very important role in helping Eintracht Braunschweig get promoted to the Bundesliga. This promotion was confirmed on 27 April.
Playing for TSG Hoffenheim
In May 2014, Ermin moved to TSG Hoffenheim. He played his first game for them on 17 August in a cup match and even scored a goal. A week later, he made his league debut. On 4 February 2015, he scored his first league goal for the club.
In September 2016, he signed a new four-year contract with TSG Hoffenheim. Ermin helped TSG Hoffenheim play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history during the 2018–19 season. He played his first Champions League game on 23 October 2018.
On 19 December, he played his 100th game for the team. Ermin signed another three-year contract with TSG Hoffenheim in May 2019. In September 2020, he got a serious knee injury. Doctors said it was an anterior cruciate ligament tear, which meant he would be out for at least six months. After more than 19 months, he finally returned to playing on 14 May 2022. In June, he signed a new one-year contract with the team.
Coming Back to Eintracht Braunschweig
In October 2023, Ermin Bičakčić returned to Eintracht Braunschweig. He signed a deal until June 2024. He played his first official game back on 27 October. On 11 November, he scored his first goal for Eintracht Braunschweig since his return. This goal helped his team win the game.
He played his 100th game for the team on 14 April 2024. In June, he extended his contract with Eintracht Braunschweig for another season. In July, he was chosen as the club captain.
Ermin's International Career

Ermin Bičakčić played for Germany at the under-18 level. However, he decided to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina as a senior player. He was also part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina under-19 team.
In August 2013, FIFA approved his request to change his sports citizenship from German to Bosnian. Earlier that month, he was called up for the first time to the senior national team. This was for a friendly game against the United States. He played his first game for Bosnia and Herzegovina on 14 August.
On 10 September, Ermin scored his first goal for the senior national team. This was during a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.
In June 2014, Ermin was chosen to be part of Bosnia and Herzegovina's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This was the first major competition for the country. He played his first game in the tournament on 15 June against Argentina.

Ermin Bičakčić is a Muslim. He sometimes visits a mosque with his teammates during national team gatherings. Some of his teammates who also visited a mosque with him include Ermedin Demirović, Jusuf Gazibegić, Haris Tabaković, Nihad Mujakić, Haris Hajradinović, Dženis Burnić, Sead Kolašinac, Enver Kulašin, Nail Omerović, Benjamin Tahirović and Osman Hadžikić.
