Ermin Bičakčić (born January 24, 1990) is a professional footballer from Bosnia. He plays as a centre-back, which means he is a defender who plays in the middle of the field. He is also part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Ermin started his professional career at VfB Stuttgart in Germany. He mostly played for their reserve team before joining Eintracht Braunschweig in 2012. Two years later, he moved to TSG Hoffenheim. In 2023, he returned to Eintracht Braunschweig.
He played for both Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a young player. However, he chose to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina's main national team. He first played for his country in 2013 and has played over 40 games since then. Bičakčić even represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at their first big tournament, the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Ermin Bičakčić's Football Journey
Early Club Career
Ermin Bičakčić's family moved to Germany from Bosnia and Herzegovina because of a conflict in their home country. He started playing football at local clubs there. In 2005, when he was 15, he joined the youth academy of VfB Stuttgart.
He made his first professional appearance for VfB Stuttgart's reserve team on March 23, 2010, when he was 20 years old. Later that year, he played his first game for the main VfB Stuttgart team in a cup match. He also made his league debut in December against Bayern Munich. In July 2011, he scored his first professional goal.
Time at Eintracht Braunschweig
In January 2012, Ermin moved to Eintracht Braunschweig. He played his first game for them on February 5. He scored his first goal for the team in March of the same year.
In January 2013, he signed a new contract to stay with the team longer. He was a very important player when Eintracht Braunschweig earned promotion to the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league. This big achievement happened on April 27, 2013.
Playing for TSG Hoffenheim
In May 2014, Bičakčić joined TSG Hoffenheim. He played his first game for them in a cup match on August 17 and even scored a goal. A week later, he made his league debut for the club. In February 2015, he scored his first league goal for Hoffenheim.
In September 2016, he signed a new four-year contract with the team. Ermin helped TSG Hoffenheim play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history during the 2018–19 season. He played his first Champions League game on October 23, 2018.
He played his 100th game for Hoffenheim on December 19, 2018. In May 2019, he signed another three-year contract.
In September 2020, Ermin had a serious knee injury that kept him from playing for a long time. He returned to the field on May 14, 2022, after more than 19 months. In June 2022, he signed a new one-year contract with Hoffenheim.
Return to Eintracht Braunschweig
In October 2023, Bičakčić went back to Eintracht Braunschweig. He played his first game for them since returning on October 27. On November 11, he scored his first goal for Eintracht Braunschweig since his comeback, which helped his team win the game.
He played his 100th game for Eintracht Braunschweig on April 14, 2024. In June 2024, he extended his contract with the club for another season. In July 2024, he was named the team's captain.
International Football Career

Even though Ermin played for Germany at the under-18 level, he decided to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina's main national team. He had also been part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina under-19 team.
In August 2013, FIFA approved his request to change his football nationality from German to Bosnian. He received his first call-up to the senior national team that same month for a friendly game against the United States. He made his debut in that match on August 14, 2013.
On September 10, 2013, Ermin scored his first goal for the national team. This happened during a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.
In June 2014, Bičakčić was chosen to be part of Bosnia and Herzegovina's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This was the country's first time playing in such a big competition. He played his first game in the tournament on June 15 against Argentina.

Ermin Bičakčić is a Muslim. He has visited a mosque with some of his teammates from the national team.
