The Ettamogah Pub is a super unique pub that looks just like a cartoon drawing! It was first shown in an old magazine called Australasian Post. A cartoonist named Ken Maynard loved quiet, open spaces. He found a place near Albury in New South Wales called Ettamogah. He liked the name so much, he used it for his famous cartoon pub! Now, there are a few real-life Ettamogah Pubs across Australia. You can find them in Sydney, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, and in Western Australia.

The Original Ettamogah Pub in Albury

The very first Ettamogah Pub was built in 1987. A businessman named Lindsay Cooper wanted to create a fun, family-friendly restaurant. He hoped it would become a popular spot for tourists. The building is made of timber and has cool, sloping walls. It looks exactly like the cartoon pub from the magazine!

In 2007, this pub in Albury added 17 new cabins. This meant people could stay overnight. The site also has a museum dedicated to Ken Maynard. It even displays a collection of his artwork.

The Ettamogah Pub on the Sunshine Coast

The second Ettamogah Pub opened in 1989. It is located at the Aussie World theme park. This is in Palmview on the Sunshine Coast. The Premier of Queensland, Mike Ahern, officially opened it. It took nine months to build and cost a lot of money.

A funny detail about this pub is the old 1927 Chevrolet car on its roof! In the cartoon, there was a flood, and the owners just left the car up there. To celebrate its 21st birthday, this pub started making and selling its own special beer.

In 2014, this pub changed its name. It also removed anything that looked like the original cartoon. This happened because of a disagreement about who owned the cartoon's ideas. In 2018, the pub got a big makeover. They added a huge wooden deck around the front and sides.

The Ettamogah Pub in Cunderdin

A third Ettamogah Pub opened in 2001. You can find this one in the town of Cunderdin. This town is in the wheat farming area of Western Australia.

The Ettamogah Pub in Sydney

The Ettamogah Pub in Sydney opened in 2003. It is located in Kellyville Ridge. From the outside, it looks just like the original pub from Table Top. However, the inside is quite different. The actual bar area is in a metal building attached to the back. The wooden cartoon building is mostly an entrance to the larger area behind it.
