History of Everton
Everton was officially started in 1881. Railroad officials named the city. They likely named it after someone with the last name Evert or Everett. However, we don't know exactly who that person was. A post office has been open in Everton since 1881.
Geography of Everton
Everton is found in the Ozarks region. It is part of the Springfield Plateau. This area is in the southeast part of Dade County. It is located south of Stockton Lake. The city is between Ash Grove and Greenfield.
U.S. Route 160 runs along the east side of Everton. The St. Louis–San Francisco Railway passes by the southwest side. This railway follows Sinking Creek.
The United States Census Bureau says that Everton covers about 0.35 square miles (0.89 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

Recreation in Everton
Everton has a public park called Dye's Park. It is located south of the city. This park is home to the Historic Dade County Courthouse. It is also known as the Penn Cabin. This building was the very first courthouse for Dade County.
