Ewing is a small city located in Fleming County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is known as a "home rule-class city," which means it has the power to manage its own local affairs. In 2020, about 228 people lived there.

Where is Ewing Located?

Ewing is found in the western part of Fleming County. A road called Kentucky Route 165 goes right through the city. This road connects Ewing to Elizaville, which is about 2 miles (3.2 km) to the east. It also leads northwest to U.S. Route 68. The county seat, Flemingsburg, is about 7.5 miles (12.1 km) east.

The city of Ewing covers a total area of about 0.25 square miles (0.65 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water.

A Brief History of Ewing

Ewing got its start in 1871. A local resident named Robert Ewing gave land to help bring the Maysville and Lexington Railroad to the area. This was a big deal for the community.

In 1873, a post office was opened in the town. Robert Ewing became the first postmaster, and the town was named after him. Ewing officially became a city in 1979, when the state assembly formally recognized it.
