Where is Ewing Located?
Ewing is found in the western part of Fleming County. A road called Kentucky Route 165 goes right through the city. This road connects Ewing to Elizaville, which is about 2 miles (3.2 km) to the east. It also leads northwest to U.S. Route 68. The county seat, Flemingsburg, is about 7.5 miles (12.1 km) east.
The city of Ewing covers a total area of about 0.25 square miles (0.65 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water.
A Brief History of Ewing
Ewing got its start in 1871. A local resident named Robert Ewing gave land to help bring the Maysville and Lexington Railroad to the area. This was a big deal for the community.
In 1873, a post office was opened in the town. Robert Ewing became the first postmaster, and the town was named after him. Ewing officially became a city in 1979, when the state assembly formally recognized it.
