Fábio Rochemback, born on December 10, 1981, is a former professional footballer from Brazil. He played as a midfielder during his career.
He played for two big rival clubs in his home state of Rio Grande do Sul: Internacional and Grêmio. Fábio also played for famous European clubs like Barcelona, Sporting CP, and Middlesbrough. He even reached the final of the UEFA Cup twice with Sporting CP and Middlesbrough.
Rochemback also represented the Brazilian national team in seven games, playing in tournaments like the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2001 Copa América.

Club Career Highlights
Starting at Barcelona
Fábio Rochemback started his career at Sport Club Internacional in Brazil. In July 2001, when he was just 19 years old, he moved to FC Barcelona in Spain. This was a big move for a young player.
During his two seasons at Camp Nou, he played 68 games and scored four goals. One of his most memorable goals was a powerful long-distance shot in a 3–1 UEFA Champions League win against Liverpool in November 2001.
Loan to Sporting CP
In July 2003, Fábio was loaned to Sporting CP in Portugal. He played a key role in helping the club reach the final of the 2004–05 UEFA Cup. He scored an amazing free kick from 30 meters against Feyenoord and helped his team win against Newcastle United. In the final, which was played at Sporting's own stadium, Estádio José Alvalade, his team lost 3–1 to PFC CSKA Moscow.
Time at Middlesbrough
After his successful loan spell, Rochemback joined Middlesbrough in England in August 2005. He signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club.
He made his first league appearance for Middlesbrough in September 2005. His first goal for the club came in February 2006, in a 3–0 win against Chelsea at the Riverside Stadium. He also scored a great free kick in an FA Cup match. Fábio was very important in Middlesbrough's journey to the 2006 UEFA Cup Final. He was even named "man of the match" in a crucial quarter-final game against FC Basel.
In his last game for Middlesbrough in May 2008, he scored a fantastic free kick in an 8–1 victory over Manchester City.
Returning to Sporting CP
On May 13, 2008, Fábio Rochemback left Middlesbrough and signed a three-year deal to return to Sporting CP.
Playing for Grêmio
In August 2009, Rochemback moved back to Brazil and signed a two-year contract with Grêmio. He later extended his contract until the end of 2012.
Move to Dalian
In January 2012, Fábio Rochemback transferred to Dalian Aerbin, a club in the Chinese Super League. He played there until the end of 2013.
Back in Brazil
In 2014, Fábio Rochemback considered signing with some Brazilian clubs. In June of that year, he joined Ipiranga, an amateur club in Passo Fundo, and helped them win a local amateur tournament.
International Career
Fábio Rochemback played seven games for the Brazilian national team, all in 2001. He made his debut on May 31, 2001, in a game against Cameroon at the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup. He played in all five games as Brazil finished fourth in that tournament. A few weeks later, he also played in the 2001 Copa América in Colombia.
