Falun is a small community called a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada. It is located within the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10. You can find it along Highway 13. It's about 31 kilometers (19 miles) west of a town called Wetaskiwin.
History of Falun
The community got its name from John Strom. He named it after Falun, a city in Sweden. Many of the first people who lived here came from Sweden. The first post office in Falun opened in 1904. A school for the children opened two years later, in 1906.

Falun has a cool outdoor arena. This arena uses the actual boards and glass from Calgary's Scotiabank Saddledome. That's where the Calgary Flames hockey team plays!
