Felix Anudike-Uzomah (born January 24, 2002) is an American professional football player. He plays as a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Kansas State Wildcats. In 2022, he was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. The Chiefs chose him as the last pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft.
Early Life and School
Felix Anudike-Uzomah was born on January 24, 2002. His hometown is Kansas City, Missouri. He went to Lee's Summit High School in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Felix has Nigerian family roots.
College Football Career
Felix started playing college football at Kansas State in 2020. In his first year, he made three tackles and one sack. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.
In his second year, he became a starter for the team. He had an amazing game against TCU, getting four sacks. Two of these were "strip sacks," meaning he tackled the quarterback and made them drop the ball. For this great performance, he was named the National Defensive Player of the Week. He also earned the title of co-Defensive Lineman of the Year in the Big 12 Conference. This means he was one of the best defensive players in his college league.
Professional Football Career
Felix Anudike-Uzomah was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. He was the 31st player chosen overall.
In his first year with the Chiefs, called his rookie season, he made 14 tackles. He also had 0.5 sacks and recovered one fumble. A fumble recovery is when a player picks up a ball that an opponent dropped.
The Chiefs had a fantastic season and made it to Super Bowl LVIII. This is the championship game of the NFL. They played against the San Francisco 49ers and won the game 25-22. Felix made one tackle in the Super Bowl, which resulted in a 4-yard loss for the other team.
In the 2024 NFL season, Felix continued to play for the Chiefs. He played in all 17 regular season games. He made 27 tackles and had 2.5 sacks. He also forced one fumble and recovered another. The Chiefs made it to the playoffs again in 2024.
