Felix Anudike-Uzomah, born on January 24, 2002, is a professional American football player. He plays as a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Kansas State University. There, he was recognized as the best defensive player in the Big 12 conference in 2022. Felix Anudike-Uzomah was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 24, 2002. He went to Lee's Summit High School in Lee's Summit, Missouri. His family background includes Nigerian heritage.
College Football Career
Felix started his college football journey at Kansas State University. In his first year, he made three tackles and one sack. This was a good start for a freshman player.
Standout Sophomore Season
He became a starting player in his second year. During a game against TCU, Felix set a new school record. He achieved four sacks, which means he tackled the opposing quarterback four times. Two of these were "strip sacks," where he also forced the quarterback to drop the ball.
He was first thought to have six sacks in that game. This would have tied a national record. However, two of the plays were later changed. The forced fumbles happened beyond the line of scrimmage. This meant they were counted differently. Still, his performance was amazing.
College Awards and Recognition
Because of his strong play, Felix received several awards. He was named the National Defensive Player of the Week. This award came from the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He also shared the title of co-Defensive Lineman of the Year for the Big 12 Conference. He was also chosen for the all-conference team.
Professional Football Career
Felix Anudike-Uzomah entered the 2023 NFL draft after his successful college career. The Kansas City Chiefs selected him as the 31st pick. This meant he was the last player chosen in the first round of the draft.
Rookie Season with the Chiefs
In his first year with the Chiefs, Felix played in 17 games. He recorded 14 tackles and had half a sack. He also recovered one fumble. His team, the Kansas City Chiefs, had a fantastic season.
Super Bowl Champion
The Chiefs made it all the way to Super Bowl LVIII. They played against the San Francisco 49ers in a very exciting game. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl with a score of 25-22.
