Felix Carl Wright, born on June 22, 1959, is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back (a player who defends against passes) in the National Football League (NFL). He was known for playing with the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings from 1985 to 1992. Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Drake Bulldogs.
Even though he wasn't chosen in the NFL draft, Wright started his career in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1982 to 1984. During his time there, he was named an Eastern Division All-Star twice. In his last year with Hamilton, he caught two passes from the other team (called an interception) during the 72nd Grey Cup game. In 1989, Felix Wright was the best in the NFL at making interceptions, with nine that season.

Felix Wright's Football Journey
Starting with the Browns
Felix Wright joined the Cleveland Browns as a free agent on April 13, 1985. In his first season, he played a special role in the team's defense. He also spent time on the special teams squad, which handles kicks and punts.
The next year, he made three interceptions. He also shined on special teams. He blocked one punt, which led to his team scoring a touchdown. He also partly blocked another punt. Later, he returned a blocked punt 30 yards for a touchdown. This happened in a game against the Minnesota Vikings on October 26.
Big Plays and Awards
Exactly one year after his game against the Vikings, Wright earned a special award. He was named "Player of the Week" for his performance against the Los Angeles Rams. In that game, he made an interception and ran it 68 yards. This play helped set up the Browns' first score. Later, he ran 40 yards with another interception for a touchdown!
In 1988, Wright had three games where he made multiple interceptions. This included two interceptions in a playoff game against the Houston Oilers. He was also named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month in December. The next season, 1989, he led the entire NFL with nine interceptions. In a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 5, he returned an intercepted pass 27 yards for another touchdown.

Felix isn't the only athlete in his family! His younger brother, Charles Wright, also played professional football. Charles played in both the CFL and briefly in the NFL. Their brother, Joe Wright, was also a professional athlete. He played basketball in Europe.
