Felix Carl Wright, born on June 22, 1959, is a former American professional football player. He was a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL). He played for teams like the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings from 1985 to 1992. Before that, he played college football for the Drake Bulldogs.
Felix wasn't chosen in the NFL draft after college. Instead, he started his career in the Canadian Football League (CFL). From 1982 to 1984, he played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He was even named an Eastern Division All-Star in his last two seasons there. In 1989, Felix Wright was the best in the NFL at intercepting passes, catching nine that year!

Felix Wright's Football Journey
Felix Wright joined the Cleveland Browns on April 13, 1985. He signed with them as a free agent. In his first year, he played a special role in the defense. He also spent time on the special teams squad.
Making Big Plays with the Browns
In his second season, Felix intercepted three passes. He was also great on special teams. He blocked one punt that led to a touchdown for his team. He also partly blocked another punt. Then, he returned a blocked punt 30 yards for a touchdown. This happened in a game against the Minnesota Vikings on October 26.
Exactly one year later, Felix had another amazing game. He played against the Los Angeles Rams. For his great performance, he earned the Player of the Week award. In that game, he intercepted a pass and ran it back 68 yards. This play helped set up Cleveland's first score. Later, he ran 40 yards with another interception for a touchdown!
Leading the League in Interceptions
In 1988, Felix Wright had three games where he intercepted more than one pass. This included two interceptions in a playoff game. He won the AFC Defensive Player of the Month award in December. The next season, in 1989, he led the entire NFL with nine interceptions. In a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 5, he returned a pass 27 yards for a touchdown.

Felix Wright comes from a family of athletes. His younger brother, Charles Wright, also played professional football. Charles played in both the CFL and briefly in the NFL. Felix's other brother, Joe Wright, played professional basketball in Europe.
