Ferguson Lake is a lovely lake located in Stewart Township, which is part of the Nipissing District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It plays a role in the huge Saint Lawrence River drainage basin, meaning its waters eventually flow towards the Atlantic Ocean.

Ferguson Lake is a natural freshwater lake. It stretches about 930 meters (about 3,050 feet) long. The lake is also about 440 meters (about 1,440 feet) wide. It sits at an elevation of 350 meters (about 1,150 feet) above sea level.

How Water Flows In and Out

Lakes often have water flowing into them and out of them. Ferguson Lake has two small streams that flow into it. Both of these streams enter the lake from the southwest side.

The main way water leaves Ferguson Lake is through an unnamed creek. This creek flows out from the east side of the lake. It travels through several other small lakes before joining a larger river.

The Journey to the Saint Lawrence River

The water from Ferguson Lake's outflow creek eventually reaches the Little Jocko River. From there, it flows into the Jocko River. The Jocko River then empties into the mighty Ottawa River. Finally, the Ottawa River joins the Saint Lawrence River, which is one of Canada's most important waterways. This shows how all these bodies of water are connected!

Nearby Features

Even though Ferguson Lake is in a natural area, there are some signs of human activity nearby. The Ontario Northland Railway passes quite close to the lake. It runs through a community called Tomiko. This railway is about 500 meters (about 1,640 feet) northwest of Ferguson Lake.
