Garay at the 2012 Summer Olympics

Fernanda Garay Rodrigues, born on May 10, 1986, is a famous Brazilian volleyball player. She is known for winning a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics and a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo with the Brazilian national team. Fernanda is about 1.79 meters (5 feet 10 inches) tall. She played for the Praia Clube team.

Fernanda Garay has had a very successful career in volleyball. She even served as a military sergeant!

Winning Gold at the Military World Games

In 2011, Fernanda played in the 2011 Military World Games volleyball tournament. Her team won the gold medal. Fernanda was also named the Most Valuable Player and the Best Spiker at this event. This showed how talented she was.

Club Success with Sollys Nestlé Osasco

Playing with the team Sollys Nestlé Osasco, Fernanda won a gold medal. This was at the 2012 FIVB Women's Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar. She was also named the Best Spiker in the Brazilian Women's Volleyball Superliga for the 2012-2013 season.

Playing for Teams Around the World

Fernanda then moved to play for Fenerbahçe in Turkey for the 2013-2014 season. She also played for Russian clubs like Dinamo Krasnodar and Dinamo Moscow. With Dinamo Krasnodar, she won the Russian Cup. She also earned a silver medal at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship. With Dinamo Moscow, she won the Russian league championship in 2016.

National Team Achievements

Fernanda was a key player for the Brazilian national team. She helped them win the South American Championship in 2013. This win helped them qualify for other big tournaments. In 2015, she won a silver medal at the Pan American Games with her national team.

Retirement from International Play

After winning the silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Fernanda Garay decided to retire from playing for the national team. She retired along with her teammate, Camila Brait.
