He is most famous for playing with Napoli. There, he helped the team win four major trophies in four seasons. This was between 1986 and 1990. Later, he joined Milan and won many more trophies. He also played for the Italian national team. He represented Italy in two FIFA World Cup tournaments. These were in 1986 and 1990. He also played in the UEFA Euro 1988 competition.
